Job Description:
The Company is seeking creative, highly skilled motion graphics video journalists to contribute to WSJ’s Global Video Unit in our New York office on a freelance basis. Candidates should be able to develop and produce motion graphic videos at an advanced level and tailored for mobile, social and digital news audiences.
The ideal candidates should be skilled in conceiving of and producing video graphic packages on news stories of interest to the WSJ audience. Strong editorial judgment, writing and editing experience is required. Deadline pressure is a constant in our newsroom, so an ability to react quickly and smartly to news events essential, as is the ability to add depth and context to a story while bringing challenging topics to life visually.
Your reel should demonstrate sophistication, vision and versatility, as well as your understanding of journalistic principles. Candidates should be familiar with multiple production formats, including vertical, square and 360 video as well as possess an ability to learn and adapt to new trends, technologies and publishing specs.
Experience at a top-tier news organization is preferred. We will give significant consideration to candidates who show a strong innovation streak. WSJ is a seven-day/week operation, so willingness and ability to work weekends is a plus. This is a 3-month contract position.
