An intern in the merchandising department will be fully immersed in the responsibilities of a buyer and will learn all about the product life cycle within a vertical retailer. The intern will assist in merchandising responsibilities such as purchase order management and will learn how other departments such as design, sourcing, visual, technical design, and others interact with merchandising to ensure overall company success . As an intern, you will be fully immersed in the retail industry through this interactive internship program.
• Understand how cross-functional teams are utilized
• Learn the basics of retail math
• Use unit sales, SSR, and sellthroughs to determine best and worst sellers
• Tag and set up samples In descending volume order
• Work with sample closet
• Update selling recaps, assortment sheets, and other administrative tasks
• Be a part of line plan building, costing and placeholder plans, tech pack materialization, line close, and buy review
Requirements
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week from June-August 2017
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising or related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Positive attitude and thirst for knowledge
• Must be organized and flexible as well as capable of meeting deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Retail experience preferred, but not required
