Overview
The MBA Intern, Category Management will assist Senior Analysts and Managers of CM manage and analyze the global assortment offering for Fashion categories. S/he will support and partner with the Senior Analysts and Managers to define the baseline assortment strategy for worldwide retail locations, initiate and facilitate new product development, and establish unit pricing to achieve gross margin objectives.
Responsibilities
The MBA Intern will assist with assortment analysis. S/he will aid Senior Analysts in proposing, implementing and monitoring baseline worldwide assortments for the Fashion Jewelry categories. S/he will help identify regional trends and recommend assortment strategies in partnership with Global Merchandising Operations. In addition, the intern will analyze assortments by collection, classification and price point as directed to maximize productivity and capitalize on trends, including year-end and quarterly reviews. S/he will support the development of reports and presentations for meetings and conferences, including collection trend reports, category-wide style reviews, competitive shopping analyses, and high-level view of new product introductions.
The MBA Intern will help with pricing by assisting Senior Analysts with formal price change processes. S/he will conduct analysis and gather comparable product information to set retails for new and existing products as well as price new receipts when necessary.
The MBA Intern will support the lifecycle management. S/he will partner with cross-functional teams to establish strategies for managing overstock and aged inventory. In addition, s/he will help ensure new product project milestones are met on a timely basis.
The MBA Intern will be involved in new product development. S/he will analyze product assortments such as collection, classification, price point and sales trends and make proposals for new merchandise based on findings. This individual will create and maintain architecture reports (product roadmaps) and key initiative image grids throughout various stages of development, ensuring accuracy of item detail.
The MBA Intern will be responsible for cross-functional communication. This individual will communicate with both central and regional teams to address and support category assortments, discontinuations, reclasses, pricing and new product plans. S/he will partner with Global Merchandising Operations and Category Management teams to create and distribute product communications. S/he will maintain and distribute architectures, image grids and key initiative image grids per Merchandising Division schedule and as needed.
The MBA Intern will have additional responsibilities including but not limited to preparing monthly category reporting, including analysis of worldwide and regional trends in sales/unit volume, gross margin, and collections/styles. S/he will field store inquiries and offer appropriate suggestions for requests for VIP customers. S/he will participate in team building activities (e.g., division-wide meetings, Category Management team events); prepare or organize materials as necessary.

Requirements
• MBA candidate with relevant previous work experience.
• Knowledge and experience in the workings of retail business practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with adaptability to new software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Must be able to think strategically and implement steps to achieve goals.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities (ability to multi-task is essential).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
