RHCB Marketing Manager
Title: Marketing Manager, Random House Children’s Books
Random House Children’s books seeks a Marketing Manager for their Trade Marketing Team to develop and implement marketing campaigns for assigned titles across the Trade publishing list (picture books, middle-grade, and young adult) with a goal of creating awareness and driving sales. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Manager will work closely with School & Library Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Publicity to craft cohesive plans, ensure consistent messaging and calculated strategy, and analyze results.
Responsibilities include:
• With guidance from the Senior Marketing Manager, develop and implement creative and strategic frontlist and backlist marketing plans for assigned picture book, middle grade, and young adult titles with a goal of engaging consumers and driving sales
• Construct savvy and analytic driven advertising campaigns with a goal of successfully engaging consumers and driving title/author awareness and sales pre and post on sale
• Work closely with Sales to create retail strategies for assigned titles across all appropriate accounts, customizing programs where applicable. In particular, this role will partner with the field sales team on key initiatives and plans for projects and events including seasonal rep picks, Indie Bookstore Day, and ABA regional trade shows/Children’s Institute/Winter Institute.
• Manage the creation of all related marketing materials including writing copy, coordinating with design and production, and distributing finished materials
• Produce materials to further develop the “From Our House to Yours” proprietary picture book storytime and merchandising program’s recognition among retailers and consumers
• Launch and nurture third party partnerships and programs to further enhance the awareness for assigned titles
• Maintain budget for assigned titles and projects, including regular reallocations
• Develop and deliver campaign presentations to sales and editorial, including at larger divisional meetings
• Create and articulate analytic recaps for campaigns
• Coordinate with the School & Library, Digital Marketing, and Publicity teams to ensure cohesive marketing campaigns and messaging
• Work closely with authors/illustrators to maximize campaign effectiveness
• Perform other related duties or projects as assigned by the Senior Marketing Manager or Director of Marketing
Requirements/Qualifications:
• 5 years marketing books and/or related experience.
• Experience in children’s trade marketing a plus
• Self-motivated, able to prioritize, and can work independently as well as in a team
• Creative thinker with an eye to developing campaigns and strategy
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Candidate should be proactive and exceptionally organized, able to meet deadlines
• Strong communication, presentation and writing skills are essential
• Candidate should exhibit excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
• Some travel may be required
