The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the department including input on HR portion of overall Business strategy, process new hire paperwork, conduct new hire orientation, processes payroll, prepare employee communication pieces, assist with employee events and meetings, process benefit enrollments, assist with administration of 401(k) program and assist with recruitment events. This role will also oversee the following areas: employee relations; human resource compliance; training and organization development; change management initiatives; workforce and succession planning; and performance management. This role also works with Unions and Union representatives to resolve all issues.
Responsibilities:
• Work with leadership to identify business needs and build HR strategies to support those needs
• Partner with management to provide consultation and coaching on matters related to: employee relations; training and organization development; change management initiatives; workforce and succession planning; and performance management
• Address complaints and conduct investigations to ensure compliance with company policy and Federal/State employment laws
• Monitor and audit personnel files to ensure compliancy with Federal, State and local employment laws
• Management of day-to-day paperwork associated with employees, Payroll, and Benefits.
• Ensuring regulatory compliance of all HR related Functions
• Maintain a presence with employees, through attendance at department meetings, events and games.
• Partner with legal department as needed/required. Provide Management with guidance and interpretation on HR Policy and Union CBAs.
• Oversee and administrate the payroll function.
• SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
◦ Filing and miscellaneous administrative tasks.
◦ Answering general questions from employees and clients.
◦ Special projects as assigned by supervisor.
◦ Handle employment verification inquires.
◦ Support department managers with creating and implementing recognition programs.
◦ Maintain legal postings.
◦ Work with managers to keep job descriptions current and accurate.
Qualifications:
• A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field (Advanced Degree Preferred)
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience
• Demonstrated ability to proactively manage and resolve complex and sensitive human resource issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, high energy, excellent follow-up and follow-through skills
• Strong knowledge of Federal and local employment laws including but not limited to ADA, FLSA, EEOC, Title VII, and other regulatory and compliance laws
• Ability to resolve conflict in a timely and efficient manner and recommend win-win strategies
• Strong analytical skills with ability to quickly summarize data
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn applicable business systems.
• HR Systems knowledge (i.e., UltiPro, applicant tracking system)
• Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively.
• Able to work with a sense of urgency in order to perform administrative tasks efficiently.
• Labor relations experience working in an environment with multiple unions
