DESCRIPTION:
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for the Affiliate System Engineering of the primary Company & CW satellite distribution networks. The job involves Video/ Audio Engineering, Hardware and Software Development, IP Network Management and Operations support. The job requires occasional availability 24x7 to provide emergency phone support to Broadcast Operations groups in the event of serious system irregularities. Additional responsibilities include the operation of the Affiliate Engineering Lab where regression testing, error simulations and performance evaluation of new hardware and software releases are conducted, oversight and management of the
Affiliate Support website and the technical supervision of vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MANDATORY SKILL/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A minimum of 7 years' experience in current professional video and audio systems engineering and/or satellite transmission system engineering, with a focus on compression, multiplexing, video and audio processing. Minimum of 5 years' experience with IP based systems development and operation. Prior work with internet application development and a CCNA certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed to regularly interface with Affiliate station personnel and vendors. The position involves multitasking between software and hardware system development activities and the daily support of Affiliate stations.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or other equivalent technical education is required.
