Job Description:
Company is seeking an experienced digital media leader to run core paid media acquisition campaigns driving subscriptions for The Company and Barron’s. This role will be the biddable media practice lead and guide a team that powers growth in subscription volume from paid search, display remarketing and upper funnel demand generation through a variety of tactics. Hands-on SEM experience is essential for this role with the ingrained ability to mentor, inspire and illicit top flight performance from a small team of digital marketers. The ideal candidate will also be an internal evangelist of cutting edge testing strategies and creative approaches to new and mature marketing channels; always with an end goal of improving return on investment and long-term profitability of Company’ premier publications.
Essential:
2-5 years of hands-on experience managing paid search accounts through Google Adwords, Bing Adcenter and Yahoo! Gemini.
An expert in KW research, Ad copy best practices & testing, targeting nuances (KW, dayparting, geo fencing, demographic overlays, negative KW overlays, audience overlays)
Experience running display programs through the Google Display Network or any of the major DSP exchanges (The Trade Desk, Media Math, TURN, RocketFuel, etc.)
Direct response background with a robust foundation in analytical, data-driven approaches that have delivered demonstrable growth to both the top and bottom line.
Prior accountability for P&L and maximizing growth for online paid media campaigns that cannot exceed established budget limits for a given monthly or quarterly time period.
Robust technical skills in the following applications: MS Excel for custom reporting, data analysis and visualization; Google Adwords, Bing Adecenter and Yahoo! Gemini paid search platforms; PowerPoint for presentation of results, championing new ideas/concepts and general business reviews to senior staff and executive audiences.
Prior experience running remarketing campaigns from set-up and implementation to management and optimization. Thorough comprehension of proven audience targeting & bidding tactics that attack the bottom of the buying cycle and how to nurture audiences through retargeting messaging through the zero moment of conversion/transaction. Ability to identify and enact best practices that maximize the impact of all marketing channels through retargeting.
Deep understanding of the concepts of view-through influence, fractional attribution and interplay amongst the various channels of the digital ecosystem.
Ability to thrive in a fast-past, results oriented environment where the break-neck pace of world and market news provide opportunities and challenges that can potentially impact media strategies and tactics on an ongoing and daily basis.
Preferred:
Understanding of relational databases, ideally with some experience using SQL or MySQL in conjunction with marketing functions.
Exposure and/or experience to the traditional affiliate channel and the cost-per-action digital marketplace.
Familiarity with JavaScript and iframe pixel and cookie tracking technologies. Conceptual understanding of how URL configurations using dynamic parameters are utilized to power tracking schemas.
Past experience implementing new reporting infrastructures and/or licensed paid media platforms.
Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Finance or any other quantitatively focused major of study. MBA not required but highly valued.
Plus:
Familiarity with DMPs and how they can power intelligent bidding and customer segmentation.
Comprehension and understanding of the publishing industry, including industry challenges and trends.
Affinity for finance and news publications, as well as an understanding of the competitive landscape.
