ISGPO has a wonderful opportunity for an energetic, driven and knowledge hungry candidate with relevant Operations experience to contribute to the creation and execution of the divisions risk agenda. The role provides opportunities to gain experience of the products and activities of the division as a whole, to build a broad and valued internal network covering all stakeholders and divisions in addition to providing an opportunity to demonstrate the leadership and execution qualities required to progress their career at Company.
The role requires a senior and experienced Director or Junior VP and depending upon the candidate will be based in either London or Glasgow.
Background
The Cross Product Risk Team is responsible for setting and sponsoring the ISGPO risk management agenda, alongside managing operational risk across ISG Prod Ops in partnership with all stakeholders, including; silo aligned risk management teams, line management, ORC, BU Non Market risk and Compliance.
The Institutional Securities Group Product Operations (ISGPO) is a product aligned Operations organisation of 1600 employees plus external service providers. Businesses supported include, Institutional Equity, Prime Brokerage, Securities Financing, Fixed Income , cleared and non cleared OTC derivatives, listed derivatives, Syndicate Operations and Foreign exchange. Activity coverage includes, but is not limited to; trade support, exposure management, collateral management and optimisation, pre settlement trade matching, client servicing, position control and confirmation processing.
The team is responsible for risk management governance, design, evolution and preparation of key risk reporting to Senior Stakeholders, various proactive and preventative risk reduction initiatives/ focused deep dives and adherence to the firm wide risk frame work , policy and standards. The team partners with Senior ISGPO management to carry and enhance the risk management culture of the 1600 strong organisation through the identification of learning opportunities, risk based training and in playing an active role in the identification of risk reduction opportunities.
Function / roles and responsibilities
The role reports regionally into the Global Head of ISGPO risk, and functionally into the officer responsible for the Cross Product Risk Management ( CPRM) team, based in NY. The individual will be working in a challenging and fast paced environment with a constantly evolving agenda. The role requires regular interaction with risk managers in all divisions, line managers and communication to various levels of management within Operations and other areas in the firm.
High Level Responsibilities and expectations will include:
• Act as EMEA region ISGPO Risk representative with focus on EMEA region specific priorities
• Support Senior Management in designing and facilitating key business aligned risk management programs and special risk aligned projects/deep dives
• Coordination with Operations Risk and Control, Audit, ORD and other Ops Risk divisions on design and facilitation of division-wide initiatives, in support of governance efforts across ISG Prod Ops
• Maintain strong control through the on-going development and evolution of key metrics
• Global production and assistance with strategic design and automation of several key components of various risk decks; inclusive of analysis, trending, exception management and commentary
• Oversight and coordination of various Regulatory exam, inquiries, MRAs
• Provide team with additional leverage in both execution of the Settlement Lockdown process/Counterparty exposure reporting in the EMEA time zone as well as additional oversight from the issue remediation perspective.
• Coordination and presentation of risk based information to our business and management stakeholders.
Qualifications:
The successful individual will have strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. They will have a sound base of experience in relevant Financial services roles, in particular, direct experience of Operational processing and control activities. The candidate will also be able to demonstrate the leadership qualities required to opine on and differentiate the relative risks and their value and priority.
The candidate will actively partner with the risk management community to contribute to the formation of the ISGPO risk reduction agenda, as well execute on the broader agenda.
• Relevant experience in Financial Services Operations activities, ideally with experience in a line and/or Operational risk roles Risk
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confidence and ability to influence and build relationships with key stakeholders within Operations and the Business Unit
• Ability to work independently and multi-task
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, good knowledge of Power Point and SharePoint
• Strong risk management and control mindset
• Individual needs to be performance-driven, proactive, with proven ability to take on challenges, set and form and execute his/her agenda
• Ability to be flexible and react to changing priorities.
• Candidate should be able to organize themselves efficiently, keep track of multiple outstanding items and meet tight deadlines.
• Demonstration in their past work experience of robust analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Candidate should be a dynamic self-starter with the ability to work either on their own initiative as well as be a solid team player.
