SUMMARY
The Inspector performs basic inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries; also performs inspection work on board barges and ships following industry standards and the procedures published by API and Company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Includes the following, other duties may be assigned)
- Quantification of liquid crude oil, petroleum products, chemical goods, lubricating oils based on ship measurements.
- Determining the quantity of goods based on the draft survey.
- Determination of the amount of oil residues, petroleum products, chemical goods, lubricating oils on the vessel after discharging.
- Determining the quantity of goods in shore tanks.
- Determining the amount of bunker on board and taking samples of bunker fuel.
- Determining the quantity of goods in rail tank cars and tank containers.
- Determining the amount of liquefied gases in ship tanks.
- Inspection of cleanliness of tanks and holds on bulk carriers.
- Supervision of loading / unloading of crude oil, petroleum products, chemical goods, lubricating oils to the ship.
- Supervising the weighing of goods on truck and rail scales.
- Goods sampling.
- Working in a task system.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Secondary / Higher.
- Valid category B driver's license.
- Work experience in a similar position will be an asset.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work in a team, good physical condition, conscientiousness, honesty and punctuality.
- Availability and willingness to travel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Good knowledge of English in speech and writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables.
