NBC, “America's Olympic Network,” owns the exclusive U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games, television’s most powerful property, through 2032, which includes PeyongChang in 2018.
This full-time temporary position will support NBC Olympics’ Bureau offices at locations to be determined, inclusive of Seoul and PeyongChang regions. The right candidate must have the ability to commute to both locations when required, transitioning fully to PeyongChang closer to games time. The right candidate must also have a knowledge base of South Korean labor market and work rules, employment laws, and regulations. This position will work with the Operations department to establish and support the Olympic offices. Support in all HR matters specifically local recruitment, as the team prepares for the Winter Olympics in PeyongChang. The job will begin in approximately February of 2017 and conclude at the end of April/May 2018. Candidates are responsible for their own housing.
Responsibilities
The primary focus of this position is for the recruiting life cycle – searching, screening and recommending hires for Broadcasting of the 2018 Olympic Games in PeyongChang.
Screens resumes, interviews candidates (by phone or in person), administers appropriate assessments and reference/background checking, and makes recommendations for hire inclusive of compensation requirements
Identify and cultivate local recruiting resources and contacts
Serve as primary liaison with NBC’s local South Korean or international payroll company
Identify local candidates and schedule interviews for department managers
Track and correspond with candidates regarding their hiring status
Onboard local staff and maintain all employee records
Enter and update employee information in NBC Olympics’ personnel databases
Serve as primary HR representative for NBC Olympics in PeyongChang until US staff arrives
Provide support to Vice President, Operations in the NBC Olympics Bureau on an as-needed basis for pre-Games special projects
Handle HR issues in South Korea as necessary
Coordinate and facilitate immigration and visa needs for NBC Olympics in conjunction with South Korean agency and PeyongChang 2018 Olympic Committee requirements
Become primary ‘fixer’ of HR and Operational needs, as needed and directed, in supporting Bureau operations
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of recruiting/ Human Resources operational experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc., and capable of learning other Olympic, computer-related systems and processes
Knowledge base of South Korean labor market and work rules, employment laws, and regulations
Ability to translate and speak Korean-English and English-Korean
Understanding of Television, Broadcasting or Large Event Planning a plus
Ability to effectively communicate in English & Korean by phone and in-person
College Degree

Previous Olympic Games, or multi-sport event and/or television/film industry experience is a plus but is not required.
