LOCATION: Tokyo
REPORTS TO: Managing Director, SEA
The Group Account Director (GAD), Client Serviceswill be responsible to oversee all of Company’s client activities across the upcoming major events (Rugby World Cup and Tokyo 2020 Olympics) on a senior level. This includes responsibilities for strategic consulting, creative development and execution.
He/she will further be responsible to provide general leadership to the local team and represent Company to external stakeholders. He/she is an established figure in the sponsorship/marketing/communications industry and is able to leverage an extensive network of relevant stakeholders across agencies, brands and rights holders.
Responsibilities will also include active pursuit and conversion of new business opportunities, application of global Company network best practices, methodologies and policies and contribution to overall business planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning & Creative Development
• Lead the trafficking of brilliant written briefs into Companies strategy and creative teams to ensure the very best work is presented back to our clients and assist superiors in presenting strategy and creative output to clients
• Management planning and execution phases of programs
• Direct all supporting research activities with support of Strategy team
• Contribute towards creative development through directing creative sessions and managing idea development process
Project Management
• Communicates project status to Managing Director and client
• Oversees project and monitors critical path and results
• Simultaneously manage at least three accounts/projects at one time
• Manage all client relationships and communications
• Leads internal initiatives
Client (External / Internal Relations)
• Oversees budget and manages scope and fee templates
• Client interface: Sponsorship Manager, Head of Marketing
• Point person for client for all Company-related programs and activities
• Considered key player in client marketing/management team
• Viewed as highly competent and knowledgeable in area of expertise by client
Budget Management
• Overall responsibility for project, account, or department budgets
• Proven track record of successful financial oversight of significant budgets
• Management of the budget process from a profit generation perspective including staffing costs, expense management, client quoting and profit modelling
Knowledge/Expertise
• Advanced network of industry connections, e.g. with vendors, industry peers
• Well-developed understanding of industry fundamentals through various resources;
• Extensively developed an understanding of an area of industry expertise
• Comprehensive understanding of company and industry news and trends
• Add value to internal initiatives with proven involvement
• Present expertise at industry seminars / conferences
New Business / Revenue Generation
• Manage successful renewal and fee increase on accounts under direct management
• Identify and progress any new business leads
• Lead new business research and presentation development process
• Lead proposal development and client participation
Staff Management/ Leadership
• Act as motivator and coach for teams; demonstrates loyal and enthusiastic attitude and seeks to instill that in subordinates and others
• Receives support when necessary from superiors; expected to update superiors frequently
• Identifies training and development needs of their account teams and implements process to achieve these goals
• Demonstrated leadership in assigning tasks & deadlines
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
• Min. 10 years’ experience with mid- to senior-level leadership positions held in the broader marketing & communications industry
• Strong experience and broad understanding of general marketing disciplines, such as communications, public relations, marketing, sponsorship.
• Able and comfortable to operate within a dynamic, global working environment across different time zones
• Excellent network of appropriate contacts in the broader industry locally in Japan on the agency, brand and rightsholder side, especially within Company’s operating environment (Rugby World Cup, Tokyo 2020 Olympics)
• Previous major event experience a plus
• Excellent communication skills (English & Japanese at Business Level)
