Position Summary
Discovery Eurosport has secured the rights from the International Olympic Committee to manage the distribution within Europe of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang from 9-25 February 2018. Discovery Eurosport wishes to appoint a Production Logistics Coordinator, working directly with the Production Director to facilitate Discovery-Eurosport’s equipment logistic movements and production services requirements. The following gives a flavour of the various tasks involved in this role which will be ideal for an experienced logistics coordinator who wants to work in the challenging world of major international sports broadcasting. The role will report to the Director of Broadcast Operations.
Responsibilities:
• In conjunction with shipping vendor, plan and implement logistics of shipments to PyeongChang and return. Coordinating shipments to IBC and venues and if necessary to vendor storage facility. For equipment/materials delivered to the storage facility, the facility will become the hub for all deliveries to/from Games venues. The Logistics Coordinator will join efforts with vendor for the delivery of all equipment to the storage facility and the distribution thereafter to all venues and its return to the storage facility.
• Of prime importance is the ability to capture various departmental shipping requirements, understanding deadlines and working with Discovery Eurosport’s freight provider whilst ensuring delivery of equipment into PyeongChang and its return. Understanding tariffs, export/import tax and equipment logistic movements are essential to the position.
• Assist with arrangements for the shipment of technical and non-technical equipment to site having regard for venue timelines, access, conditions of the Master Delivery Schedule (MDS) of the host broadcaster, etc.
• Working with Production Management/Bookings colleagues as well as Service Providers ensure the completion and maintenance of the information stored on the Master Delivery Schedule. Manage the activities arising out of the MDS.
• Research, identify, source and engage a variety of local Service Providers for example, vehicles, Material Handling Equipment, refrigerated vans, furniture, office supplies as dictated by the business.
• The Logistics Coordinator will be required to work with Engineering, Production and Markets in coordinating and implementing the fit-out, maintenance and tear down of the broadcast working environments at the IBC and all venue compounds with D-ES presence.
• Interface with various Discovery-Eurosport departments (production, engineering, logistics, finance, digital and markets) to supply the materials, services and any specialty items required for the Olympic project at the broadcast centre and venue
• Provide within the storage facility assistance with the receipt of mail/packages/freight and their onward distribution. Assist with the security screening of goods
• If required provide the facility for the replenishment of paper stock for the photocopiers of Discovery/Markets
• There will be ongoing contact with POCOG (local Olympic Committee) and OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) creating good relationships while maintaining an understanding of the committee’s shipping and delivery procedures and communicating procedure updates to colleagues in the Discovery Eurosport family, its shipping vendor and suppliers
• Whilst this document is a comprehensive assessment of the role, the duties of the Logistics Manager may from time to time be amended as dictated by business.
Requirements:
• Previous Olympic Games broadcasting experience desirable in this or similar capacity.
• Sound knowledge of IT programmes particularly those used to produce complicated spreadsheets. The holder will also be expected to work with documents using Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Smartsheets, and Keynote.
• Strong organisational ability required with a keen eye for detail
• Experience of working on complicated logistical operations with adherence to strict domestic and international deadlines
• Possess a high level of initiative and sound customer service skills
• Ability to work harmoniously with all levels of staff and freelancers. Strong communication and problem-solving skills would be invaluable.

• A calm and accurate approach to all tasks
• Willingness to work long and sometimes unsocial hours including weekends, nights and public holidays.
• A willingness to relocate to South Korea ahead of the Games.
