Freelance: VFX Editorial Assistant
The Integrated Advertising team in Los Angeles are looking for a VFX Editorial Assistant. Strong organizational skills and editorial workflow knowledge are required. This is an entry level position and is a temporary to permanent role.
Description:
Company's Assistant VFX Editor position encompasses several duties and responsibilities which cover a wide range of technical knowledge. The Assistant VFX Editor position will require a fundamental understanding of a large scale centralized server environment, basic knowledge of video color space, and working experience with professional editing software.
Responsibilities:
• Conforming edit timelines from an external client EDL or XML and meticulously checking against client's offline for accuracy
• Organizing, preparing, and publishing shots for distribution to various VFX operators via Company's internal pipeline
• Maintaining an up to date edit and audio mix while accommodating changing EDLs from clients - publishing updated shots for VFX team members
• Working closely with VFX Supervisors and in house Producers maintaining in-depth knowledge of a project's status
• Taking responsibility and ownership of a project's workload, time management, and feedback from Supervisors & Producers and applying their feedback to the project
• Preparing and operating a NLE system during internal and client reviews
• Updating end of day shots in the timeline, then outputting WIP videos to Company's web-browser
• Working closely with Color Assists and Colorists to apply proper color look to the graded plates during the VFX assembly process
Essential Skills:
• A thorough understanding of editing workflow principles (EDL management, time-warps, multi video tracks, file formats, frame rates, colorspace)
• A working knowledge of The Foundry's Hiero NLE or, knowledge of another NLE solution (FCP, Premiere, Avid, Flame Assist)
• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
• A polite and respectful attitude towards clients
• A pro-active and collaborative work ethic
• A strong eye for detail and a meticulous nature
• A meticulous attention to detail and keen eye for catching frame-based discrepancies
• The ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve in a fast paced professional industry environment
• The desire to build a career and advance in the visual effect industry
Desirable Skills:
• Knowledge of Hiero
• A working knowledge of the overall VFX pipeline
• Experience in dealing and communicating with clients
• Python programming knowledge
