The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. FCG prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting FCG, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. FCG is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review Group (VRG).
Global Corporate Controllers and Planning (GCCP) is the global center of expertise and leadership for accounting, compensation, policy, reporting, financial risk and control. The Global Disclosure Standard and Control team (GDSC) forms a significant component of the GCCP team, and is responsible for key financial disclosures under US GAAP, IFRS and UK GAAP published in Company's 10-K/Q, regulatory filings to the Federal Reserve and Financial Services Authority and local statutory accounts. GDSC monitors and sets disclosure requirements, oversees back-to-front control requirements, and provides subject matter expertise in the preparation of a number of significant disclosures. One of GDSC's key value-adds is the ability to drive consistency of approach across multiple reporting frameworks.
We are currently looking for a Vice President candidate to join the management team. The optimal candidate will be a highly motivated, energetic professional with a track record of managing financial reporting of large business areas, with good understanding of accounting and reporting requirements related to financial instruments including fair value, derivatives, loans, securities, borrowings, deposits, and structured transactions. The candidate should have 10+ years of experience working in Financial Services, with associated financial reporting expertise and in depth understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, Federal and International regulatory accounting and reporting.
Given the dynamic nature of the role, it is imperative that this individual have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with our key clients, including the Business Unit, Controllers, Valuation Group, Corporate Treasury, IT, and a variety of finance groups. Additionally, interaction with global colleagues in Europe and Asia will be important to succeeding in this role. Finally, while project management experience is not a requirement, the candidate should be well organized and be able to independently prioritize and deliver on numerous ad hoc initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
• Establishing accounting and reporting standards used for disclosure processes.
• Overseeing and reviewing monthly and quarterly disclosures and analytics, reviewing reconciliations completed by staff, resolving issues, and escalating key items to management.
• Regular interaction with stakeholder groups to communicate requirements and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of controls.
• Continuously reviewing activities to enhance controls and streamline processes.
• Implementing new accounting and reporting disclosures.
• Developing and facilitating stakeholder training.
• Managing short-term and long-term projects involving process enhancements and new or revised reporting requirements.
• Engaging with Accounting Policy on topics, including but not limited to accounting complexities around existing and new business initiatives.
Qualifications
• Qualified Financial Controller with 10+ years of reporting and general financial controller experience.
• In-depth technical knowledge of US GAAP within a financial services environment and a willingness to develop knowledge of IFRS.
• Ability to work with and manage teams in multiple geographic locations.
• Success in transforming processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
• Proven leadership ability in resolving issues and implementing initiatives.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
• Advance Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills are required.
• Public accounting experience is preferred.
• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
