Description
Acts as an advisor on business and financial planning, including strategic planning and forecasting. Supports the Sales teams specifically around forecasting, budgeting, sales promotions, deal discounting, revenue recognition and commissions planning and forecasting.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partner the Advanced Manufacturing Sales Management team to provide Finance perspective and input/benchmarking to enable the team to achieve strategic goals
• Fully understand the product portfolio, the market and competitive environment as well as the business dynamics. Provide on the ground objective perspective and valuable input to the Advance Manufacturing Director and Sales Management team.
• Provide key financial support to aid in business decision-making and strategic planning, including supporting forecasting, financial modeling and investment analysis processes including the preparation of forecasts, financial models, and investment analyses.
• Monitors Company performance against goals to ensure Advanced Manufacturing Sales maintains accountability.
• Interface with other Company Corporate groups; Division Finance, Advanced Manufacturing Development, Sales Finance, Tax, Treasury, HR, Legal, FP&A, Corporate Accounting, Revenue Accounting, and Internal Audit.
• Report out to Company Finance forecast, budget and actuals analysis of actual revenue, billings and spending against budget/forecast as produced by Delcam Finance.
BUSINESS PLANNING
• Act as a key liaison among Sales management personnel. Viewed as a strategic business partner, change agent and member of the line management staff.
• Ensure Advanced Manufacturing Sales reporting is submitted on schedule. Analyze historical financial data in order to make assumptions regarding revenue projections. Oversee ongoing revenue forecast/outlook and revenue trend reporting. Review forecasts and determine what effect proposed changes may have on outcome (‘what-if’ analyses). Develop models to determine financial impact on profit margins.
• Work with various sales groups to establish annual budgets to achieve Divisional objectives within budget. Manage, prepare, administer, and direct the control of the budget.
• Help prepare Quarterly Management Analysis, Planning & Forecasting, and Run Rate Analysis. Analyze actual spending against budgeted/forecasted amounts. Work with business groups to perform various analyses such as revenue analysis, unit analysis, headcount analysis and operating expense analysis. Review financial statements to determine month-end accruals. Establish and monitor Divisional metric reporting (e.g., ASP, Subscription; Product; Rev; Opex; P&Ls; and Channel Inventory Reporting as applicable). Facilitate discussion with Sr. Management regarding run rate variance and recommends actions to remedy variance.
• Represent the Advanced Manufacturing Sales team in identifying issues (e.g., risks or areas of exposure) and potential resolutions related to Financial Mgmt of company. Identify patterns and predict potential disasters.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS/SUPPORT
• Participate in Operational Reviews. Institute appropriate financial controls to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities including required approvals.
• Responsible for various commission issues, including management of the commission administration group, input into quota assignment, quarter end close, transaction support (pricing approvals, RMA), and deal structuring and review.
• Provide guidance to the client group regarding current regulatory changes (including revenue recognition) impacting the finance processes and practices. Address improper actions, or questionable practices, immediately to reduce company risk and exposure. Ensure controls are in place to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance within client group.
• Participate in Sales staff meetings related to forecasting, operations and planning. Attend Finance staff meetings to contribute to overall corporate strategy and to represent client group needs.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor effectiveness of Finance policies, practices and processes to determine efficiency and effectiveness. Recommend improvements to achieve and deliver improved results. Implement and follow standards and policies as defined by corporate and division senior management; escalates exceptions or questionable practices to direct manager or senior management staff.
• (May) lead or sponsor cross functional or intra-divisional projects for client organization or Finance, especially projects related to streamlining and/or improving processes and systems.
