Finance and Accounting Intern—Company International Home Entertainment, Summer 2017 Internship
The International Home Entertainment accounting team is responsible for all non-operating international territories as well as International Home Office accounting. Together they manage all financial activity within the International Home Office, Licensees, Distribution Deals, Joint Ventures, closing of Legacy Entities and support of new offices. The team currently consists of a Director, Manager, Senior Accountant and Financial Accountant.
Responsibilities:
Please capture projects, day to day responsibilities, and what the intern will have an opportunity to learn in this role.
Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assist in vendor creation and payment initiation for Home Office, Licensees and Nordic JV 3rd Parties
• Analyze and create journal entries to assist in closing the legacy entities
• Track the Journal Listing Report to insure that all support is saved according to SOX procedures
• Assisting the department in ad hoc tasks
The intern will gain experience/exposure to the following:
• Understand the value of SOX controls and how it impacts finance / overall business
• Understand the process of making payments from inception to payment
• Understand the impact of a multi-currency organization and how the currencies affect the financials
• Exposure to all other departments within Home Entertainment Finance
Qualifications: Requirements for the role (technical skills, educational requirement, interest or coursework)
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university for the duration of the internship is required
• Candidates must be enrolled in an accounting or finance degree program. Third and fourth year students preferred.
• Understanding of US GAAP and Internal Controls
• Proficient in Excel
• Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• Ability to Multi-task and grasp new concepts quickly
Program Information:
SPE’s Summer 2017 Internship is a 10 week full time program with two session starts, June 12-August 18 or June 26-September 1, 2017. All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited degree program for the entire duration of their internship and must be available for 40 hours per week for the full 10 week session.
