WREG has an immediate opening for Executive Producer – a straightforward person who can lead by example, coach excellence, inspire imagination and reward creativity. Responsibilities:
• Supervises the presentation of compelling content across multiple platforms.
• Coordinates coverage that is accurate, balanced, relevant, meaningful and imaginative.
• Supervises and coaches all producers, reporters, photographers, editors, assignment editors and production personnel for your assigned shift.
• Responsible for the accuracy of all products on all platforms during assigned shift.
• Oversees the look of our newscasts, and puts the schizzle into breaking news
• Executes our strategic priorities across all platforms; including but not limited to weather and breaking news.
• Demonstrates strong news judgment, ethics and an understanding of legal guidelines.
• Creates and implements strategies to increase demos and engagement across all platforms.
• Coaches team members how to weave WREG’s brand throughout the product every day.
• Manages schedules and overtime.
• Embraces personal accountability in your role as a leader. Shows an attention to detail, and exhibits a willingness to chip in and help.
• Exhibits a positive attitude, adaptability to change, and a willingness to master technological advancements that haven’t been invented yet.
• Provides regular feedback, both formal and informal, including annual evaluations for direct reports.
• Communicates and collaborates with the rest of the management team, facilitating effective hand-offs from one shift to the next, collaborating with strategic planning and long-range goal setting.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant News Director or News Director
Qualifications:
Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Experience in supervising professional news staff and in gathering and reporting news. Must be able to drive a vehicle. Ability to operate PC, word processor and editing equipment. Knowledge of what is required to produce five or more fast-paced newscasts daily. Command of the language. Must possess a valid State Driver's License (or be able to get one).
Education Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred and/or five years’ work experience. Prior management experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Dexterity to operate PC, telephone, editing equipment, etc. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as required, of materials consisting of tapes, reference material, etc. Ability to communicate in office settings using telephone, radio, intercom, direct in person contact and other such means. Vision to view and produce newscasts.
