General Summary
Company TV Distribution team is currently looking for a strong sales professional and team player to provide maternity cover for a key Executive Director level vacancy on their London based team.
The successful candidate for this positon needs to be a solid and persuasive sales professional and team leader. Responsibility will include all aspects of the Nordic & Benelux TV distribution business including, but not limited to, the following core duties and responsibilities:
• Sales and Business Development: We are looking for a seasoned sales individual who can move clients to buy our content and lead our team to sell proactively and effectively. She/he would manage existing deal commitments and partnerships, as well as create and initiate new business opportunities across the territory, achieving and exceeding sales budget. Ensure in-depth product knowledge across all product categories and continuously works towards generating incremental revenue opportunities across the entirety of SPT’s product portfolio. Be at the forefront of market trends including the evolution of our competition and clients.
• Relationships: Grow, develop and nurture strong and lasting relationships with all clients, partners, managers and internal stakeholders in the territories.
• Deal Negotiation and Management: Serve as the point-person for all deals across the territory, in partnership and close collaboration with the SVP Distribution: tend to all negotiations collaborating with SPE’s legal counsel and wider team. Demonstrate skill in creating, negotiating and papering smart and favorable terms which meet our strategic objectives, within SPT’s policies and guidelines, ensuring optimization of commitments (product / grant of rights) versus revenue generation.
• Strategy and Leadership:Contribute to the vision / strategy for the territory and lead team (direct and indirect reports) in tactical execution of strategic plan: define sales strategies across all business models together with immediate team and direct supervisor. Define and agree goals and priorities, seeking optimum market participation for SPT across all media (FTV, Pay, Basic, VOD, PPV, EST, SVOD and any other form of media exploitation). Be a role model to the direct team and the rest of the organization; always looking to drive, motivate and inspire the growth and achievement of people and the business.
• Sales Planning: Be involved in the review, establishment and execution processes surrounding all sales planning; including optimization of product windowing and pricing, maximizing the value of our products whilst taking into consideration our business objectives, market conditions, best practice and utilizing in-depth analysis. Work closely with immediate team and the Senior Manager (for the territory cluster), Research and Analysis, Finance as well as wider sales planning team across EMEA.
• Analysis: Work with SPT analysts and research resources – as well as other divisions within Company Entertainment (SPE) – to analyze data (subscription / transactional / viewership) building and structuring insights into product performance and revenue trends; subsequently crafting and presenting business ideas on how to further increase product / revenue performance.
• Budget Setting: Provide leadership in the preparation of annual sales budgets as well as mid-range plans. Provide sales estimates and projections on individual deals and products, ultimately ensuring that such projections and budgets are met or exceeded. Provide regular updates on sales performance versus budget in regular finance calls as well as in team meetings.
• Operations: Collaborate and lead the territory team to continuously improve processes and performance. Work with the operations teams in Los Angeles and London seeking to increase efficiency and accuracy of the avail lists generation, management and administration of contracts, amendments, start orders, change orders, approvals, draft allocations, product delivery etc.
• Marketing, Promotions & Publicity: Liaise and collaborate Marketing and Public Relations teams to oversee and implement marketing, public relations and promotional strategies and tactical actions that boost product performance and enhance our client relationships within our digital media business.
• Sony Relationships: Manage and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders within Company Television as well as across other key divisions at SPE (Theatrical, Home Entertainment, Production, Legal, WPF, People & Organization, etc.) and with other Sony Corp. entities such as Sony Music, Electronics, Sony Mobile and PlayStation.
• Other Projects:Support SVP Distribution on other projects and initiatives as required
To be considered for this role, ssuccessful candidates must have and/or demonstrate:
• A successful track record selling content (films and tv series, etc.) to clients in the region.
• Results driven with strong customer focus: hands-on, yet strategic
• Thorough experience and excellent multi-year track record of achievements at a senior level within the TV/film distribution business, with focus on sales with up-to-date knowledge and insights into the media landscape / clients in the territory.
• Solid experience in successfully negotiating complex deals at a senior level with the ability to clearly analyze, evaluate and then communicate opportunities, uncertainties and risks to manager. Working hand-in-hand with legal and other departments.
• Strong understanding of technology and digital distribution business models: previous track record and ability to negotiate complex rights (content protection / usage rules / utility).
• Ability to take a key leadership role managing and guiding the immediate team focusing on creating a collaborative environment with clearly communicated and agreed goals; demonstrating developed leadership skills, professional courage, initiative, innovation and integrity.

• Confident presentational and sales skills, adept at managing client relationships at a senior level as well as internal relationships.
• Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills, with a high proficiency in Excel and experience in consolidating and analyzing complex data and information from multiple sources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of reporting at a senior level.
• Ability to travel to individual markets in the territory on a frequent and ad hoc basis.
