The Executive Director will work directly with the VP to manage both creative services operations and development of creative. S/he will have an understanding of how creative can be executed to achieve brand, business and ratings goals, while maintaining a leading-edge vision for the development and execution of all creative. This position is highly collaborative, working with internal and external teams across all disciplines, particularly with marketing and programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide operational, creative and strategic leadership in the conceptualization, development, and execution of creative materials including being able to critique work to maintain consistent creative quality.
• Maintain a long-term, strategic view – anticipate opportunities (and necessities) for coordination, synchronization and integration across multiple platforms, lines of business and departments.
• Ensure strategic alignment of creative with overall business priorities including tune-in, brand evolution, programming priorities, marketing objectives.
• Allocate limited resources in order to maximize achievement of business priorities through creative work.
• Develop processes and workflows to maximize internal resources.
• Work with project managers to ensure timelines, resources, and budget allocations can meet project scope.
• Adaptability with the business as it evolves over time.
• Be a creative ambassador. Build a culture of creative thinking and innovation with internal teams as well as client and agency partners.
• Assist with department budget management.
• Other relevant and related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
• Successfully gained increasing levels of responsibility through the operational creative ranks at an ad agency, broadcast or cable network with a track record of managing creative teams and campaigns.
• Experience managing production tonnage in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Knowledge of all steps required in the creative development process, including providing clear direction, giving timely and helpful coaching to improve creative and producing all work cost effectively and on schedule.
• Strong leadership and management skills with superior conceptual and critical thinking abilities.
• Employs strong understanding of the tools and technology resources necessary for the development of promotional spots and materials.
• Able to clearly direct and refine the work with staff and vendors/freelancers to get the best product.
• Passion for the work and the business which is visible in presenting to all audiences.
• Team player who is highly collaborative and flexible.
• Demonstrated hands-on short-form television production experience (promos, ads, music videos, etc.).
• Ability to operate quickly and calmly within a large, complex, high pressure, dynamic environment, while setting and maintaining key priorities.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor degree in TV, Film, Marketing or related field; or equivalent visual design and management experience required.
• Minimum ten years experience in creative and/or operational leadership position at a top network, production company, ad agency or media/entertainment organization.
• Extensive experience in managing high quality integrated marketing campaigns.
• Successful experience managing a creative team
• Strong written, oral and presentation skills.
