Position Description
The Executive Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration and Student-Athlete Success will serve as a member of the Director of Athletics’ Executive team and be responsible for developing and coordinating a comprehensive sport administration program, along with overseeing all areas that directly support and impact student-athlete performance and success. This will include management of the Sport Administration team, and direct oversight of the offices of Student Life Skills, Athletic Compliance and Financial Aid, Athletic Equipment, and the Sports Performance Team. The position will also serve as the primary sport administrator numerous sports to be determined by the Director of Athletics. This position is also responsible for Title IX compliance, Student Conduct Issues and is the Liaison to the Athletic Academic unit.
The Sport Administration duties include coordinating meetings and advising the Director of Athletics on the strategic direction of the Sport Administration Team, including direct oversight of the Senior Associate Athletic Director(s) and Associate Athletic Director(s), including the Senior Woman Administrator position (SWA) for Sport Administration. In addition, primary sport administration duties for specific sports as assigned by the Director of Athletics will include but not be limited to assisting development and adherence to team budgets, approving game schedules and contracts, assisting with organization of team travel, coordinating student-athlete affairs, developing academic and athletic goals and evaluating progress, monitoring recruitment of prospective student-athletes, playing an active role in alumni development and donor cultivation, assessing facility needs and managing upgrades, assisting in the development of annual marketing and ticket plans, participating in team and university discipline proceedings, playing an active role in hiring essential staff members, serving as a liaison for all appropriate Atlantic Coast Conference committees, monitoring adherence to all NCAA, ACC, University and Athletic Department rules and evaluating programmatic performance in all areas.
Student-Athlete Success duties include assisting the Director of Athletics in developing and reinforcing an elite standard of support in all areas that directly impact the student-athlete experience, including direct oversight of the Senior Associate AD for Student Life, Senior Associate AD for Compliance, Executive Associate AD for Performance Team and the Director of Equipment Services. This will include development and adherence to program budgets, development of programmatic goals and evaluation of progress, assessment of facility and equipment needs and management of upgrades, playing an active role in hiring essential staff members, monitoring adherence to all NCAA, ACC, University and Athletic Department rules and developing tools to assess and continually improve the impact of each support area on the success of all Pitt student-athletes.
Education Required Master's
Minimum Related Experience Level Required 6-9 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of experience in a collegiate or professional setting or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree and extensive related experience may be substituted for education requirement. Individual must possess excellent writing and communications skills. Outstanding project and personnel management skills. Able to meet deadlines.
