Job Introduction
Company at the Edinburgh Festivals is a pan-Company project that brings together the Company’s wide-ranging coverage of the Edinburgh Summer Festivals, the biggest arts, entertainment and comedy event in the world. Across August the Company’s activity is focused around our broadcast hub at George Heriot’s School – with live broadcasts, free shows, arts, comedy, music, family friendly activities and performers from across the Edinburgh Festivals.
We are looking for an Event Assistantto support the event production team to help deliver this complex pan-Company project. You must have experience of working on at least one live event, as the timescales on this project do not allow for training.
The team will work across multiple bases, including London, Edinburgh and possibly Glasgow. The team will be based in Edinburgh for the whole of August, with accommodation provided centrally for this period.
Role Responsibility
To support the operational and planning requirements for this broadcast and audience event.
To assist and support the processes and systems for delivering live event and OB activity (e.g. producing event materials, liaising with suppliers to source event kit, booking travel and accommodation and completing administration tasks using specialist production management skills, knowledge and experience).
To work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multiplatform content by providing ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
To be a key point of liaison for production teams working on site in Edinburgh providing information and facilitating requests.
To contribute to and maintain a creative and collaborative culture.
The Ideal Candidate
Demonstrable experience of working on at least one live event or in a live broadcast environment.
Highly organised and able to juggle changing priorities.
Excellent administrative and IT skills.
Able to work accurately with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of influencing and motivating others to achieve results.
Experience of coordinating deliverables for an event or production.
Experience of working as part of a team within a high pressure production environment and maintaining good working relationships.
Able to identify and source suitable resources and negotiate deals within given parameters.
Adaptable with a flexible approach to workloads and working hours. Able to maintain resilience under pressure. Resourceful when confronted with challenging situations.
Knowledge of the Company and the event industry. An enthusiasm for and knowledge of the Edinburgh Festivals and Company output is essential.
Knowledge and experience of using financial accounting systems.
Knowledge of Company policies, procedures and guidelines, including Editorial & Health & Safety Guidelines. Recognised formal Health & Safety training (including Risk Assessment).
