The mission of the University of Virginia Career Center (UCC) is to provide guidance and resources to a diverse student body for the achievement of their career-related goals. The Employer Accounts and Events Manager is a member of the Employer Relations Team (ER Team) in the Career Center. Employer Relations assumes responsibility for successful employer relations including acting as an ambassador to the employment community, maintaining ongoing contact with recruiters who have established relationships, developing new relationships with recruiters, and keeping abreast of developments in local, national, and international career trends as they pertain to the career interests of students and alumni.
The Employer Accounts and Events Manager position has the primary responsibility of coordinating all aspects of relationship management, on-Grounds interviews (OGI), and event management for companies in specified industries. This position serves as the primary contact for providing information regarding these programs directly to interested recruiters and students and is also responsible for the logistics related to employer development programming. Additionally, the Employer Accounts and Events Manager communicates with UCC and affiliate staff to communicate events, interviews, and other employer programs.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
Coordination of University-Wide Recruiting Events / Information Sessions (40%)
- Within the Career Center and with support from the employer relations team, supports the employer-facing implementation of a series of large-scale Career Fairs across Grounds.
◦ Serves as primary contact person for recruiters with questions regarding event registration. Invites recruiters to events and ensures that sufficient numbers of recruiters are registered to attend.
◦ Coordinates the registration process and communicates detailed event information to registrants. Monitors registration for events, ensures complete collection of necessary data from recruiters. Follows-up with recruiters/representatives after the event and maintains their contact information and participation history in Handshake database.
- Collaborates with the UCC marketing team to develop marketing materials including website, event signage, materials, nametags, and employer packet information.
- Partners with Employer Relations Team and Community Builders to coordinate recruiter focused programs that support the strategic focus of the career communities.
- Establishes event dates and secures locations. Collaborates with the Shared Support Service team to secure vendors, negotiate contracts for venues, parking, set-up, supplies, for select career fairs, etc.
- Coordinates with Shared Support Services staff and student volunteers to provide adequate coverage on event days. For employer-specific events, ensures proper set-up and check-in processes on the day of event.
- As a member of the ER team, assists in compiling assessment data for key employer events and career fairs. This data is used for internal reporting and shared with partners across Grounds.
- Assists event coordinators in other Company schools and departments when needed with creating events in Handshake.
Manages On-Grounds Interviews (30%)
- Collaborates with the UCC Employer Relations Team, Associate Director and other Employer Accounts and Events Managers to manage all administrative functions of the On-Grounds interviewing program, this includes facilitating all communications with employers, setting-up interview schedules, assigning rooms in the Handshake system.
- Manages On-Grounds Interviewing Program logistics for specified industries and prepares daily recruiting activities.
- Serves as primary on-site on-Grounds interviewing contact for specified industries in your portfolio and contributes to full-time staff coverage on suite level during recruiting season.
- Supports Assessment and Reporting efforts by providing reports and analysis as needed to the Director of Employer Relations, Assistant VP, UCC staff and affiliate offices.
- Maintains history of recruiting activities and reporting dashboard to assess programs and recruiting trends.
- Assists ER Team in communicating OGI policies and procedures for recruiters and students.
- Ensures employers are aware of students who have requested virtual interviews and makes necessary technical arrangements.
- Resolves problem situations with students and/or employers; works with supervisor as well as the Director of Employer Relations and senior level staff to minimize negative effects on the reputation of the On-Grounds Interviewing program.
- Markets the On-Grounds Interviewing program and other recruiting opportunities to employers within specified industries; develops and distributes recruiting invitations and procedural information to interested employers.
- Collaborates with Employer Relation team to strategize employer development.
Reporting, Assessment and Supervision (30%)
- Serves as the primary point-of-contact for employers (within specified industries) seeking to host information sessions on-Grounds; coordinates logistics for employer information sessions.
- Help recruiters implement recruiting strategies by executing targeted recruiting programs.
- Collaborates with Career Center Staff and Affiliate partners across Grounds to ensure that new recruiters are connected with appropriate resources for recruiting Company. students.
- Participates in University-wide Employer Relations Group meetings to discuss recruiting issues, develop policies, etc. and keeps abreast of current employment trends.
- Establishes contact with organizations not currently recruiting at Company and invites them to attend programs and/or post jobs for students and alumni.
- With other members of the ER team, monitor and update Employer Relations pages on the Company Career Center Website.
- Supervises a small team of student assistants (Event Assistants) who support company information sessions, career fairs, and On Grounds interviewing (OGI).

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: At least one year of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and prioritize assignments.
- Proficient computer skills, especially database and Web-based technology and Microsoft Excel.
- Good communicator of intricate computerized programs and procedures.
- Demonstrated program and event coordination experience including goal-setting and budget development.
- Strong customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work effectively with recruiters, alumni, faculty, and students.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with Handshake, Symplicity, or other CSM applications.
- Minimum of three years of career services, student activities, human resources and/or event planning experience.
- MS Excel and Web design tools.
Salary range: $55,500-$58,500 commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, twelve-month University Professional Staff positions with full benefits. Benefits package highlights include:
