The intern will work with the Clarion Books editorial department and have the opportunity to observe and participate in all aspects of children’s books publishing, from the manuscript stage to finished books. The intern should have some previous office experience and a strong interest in books for young people and the publishing industry in general.
Duties include administrative work such as sending out mailings, making copies, and scanning. In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to correspond with authors and illustrators, sit in on editorial meetings, screen art and manuscript submissions, and write reader reports.
This is a part-time, paid internship with a start date on or about January 20, 2018.
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing)
• The person in this position needs to move about inside office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
