Editorial Assistant:
As editorial assistant, you will work closely with the whole editorial team to write and produce content on both sites across all the site’s key beats, oversee and execute SEO-related projects, and manage various editorial administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is an energetic go-getter, who is hyper-organized, able to meet short deadlines, and is passionate all things the modern of woman of today loves: home, healthy, beauty, food, entertaining and more.
Key Responsibilities
• Pitch and write 1-2 original pieces daily, including slideshows, articles, listicles, infographics and more
• Execute on SEO-driven priorities and writing assignments, with direction from senior editorial team
• Support Social Media Editor and Assistant Social Media Editor with programming and optimizing engagement on Pinterest; serve as backup for social media programming across all social platforms when social editors are out of the office
• Assist other web editors with key editorial and administrative tasks, including building stories, sourcing images, research and fact-checking, generating and tracking contracts, processing invoices and more
• Attend and cover press previews and other industry events as relevant
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience writing lifestyles-related content, either in an internship or in a freelance or full-time position, at a daily website
• A sense of humor and a clear, creative, and technically spotless writing style
• Internet and social media obsessive
• Familiarity with popular women’s interest magazines, websites, blogs and more
• Knowledge of SEO best practices
• Previous experience with a content management system and social scheduling tools and tactics
Associate Editor
Responsibilities
-Monitoring news and writing articles around brands of relevance to our readers.
-Writing evergreen list posts
-Come up with video ideas and work with video team to produce.
-Attend video shoots as needed.
-Create short form videos
-Write features as needed.
-Ideate and oversee original photo shoots.
-Work with partnerships team at Hearst to figure out how to leverage food for traffic from partner sites like MSN.
-Collaborate with sales team and our sponsored content editor on ideas for branded content for food brands.
Requirements
-A passion for social media and all-around love of the internet.
-1 year in a digital newsroom.
-Excellent interview skills and the ability to do original reporting.
-Familiarity with CMS, social media platforms, and analytics tools; either a familiarity with Photoshop or willingness to learn
