An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Development team in our friendly and vibrant Higher Education publishing department. As part of the energetic and collaborative team, you will work across a range of subject areas including business, economics, politics and psychology, to develop market-leading textbooks and digital ancillaries for university students and lecturers. You will add value to key new books and new editions by maintaining high standards of pedagogical and academic quality and maximising profitability potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Competitor and market research
• Management of peer review process for manuscript drafts
• Analysis of reviews and manuscript drafts
• Picture research and permissions clearance
• Planning and preparation of material for websites that accompany textbooks
• Liaison with other departments and with authors
The ideal applicant will:
• Have a strong academic background and awareness of the Higher Education environment
• Have a superb command of written English and a sharp eye for detail
• Be highly organised, and able to multi-task and prioritise effectively, working independently and using initiative
• Have excellent communication, team-working and diplomacy skills
• Have an interest in design and visual creativity
• Be enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude and the ability to thrive in a challenging environment
This is an ideal position for someone new to publishing or for those with some experience in a commissioning editorial assistant role.
