We have an opening for an experienced, innovative, strategic Editorial Assistantin our New York City office. Does this sound like you?
Reporting to the Executive Editor, the Editorial Assistant will be responsible for assisting the editorial team in all areas of acquisitions and development of print and online content for the medical market. Performing a variety of administrative duties, including correspondence, filing, completing forms, processing payments, managing data, interfacing with authors, contributors, reviewers and vendors, and varying ad hoc projects.
Critical Functions:
• Manage and maintain editorial database, with particular attention paid to keeping accurate and up-to-date author and contributor information.
• Support editors in achieving their acquisition goals by assisting with author/editor correspondence, sending and tracking contracts, helping with research as needed and planning/organizing editorial meetings.
• Work with authors and contributors to obtain deliverables as contracted, sending reminders as appropriate. Ensure that all paperwork is on file, including contributor agreements, personal data forms and permissions.
• Interface with Accounts Payable and Royalty departments to ensure timely author and vendor payments.
• Assist in preparing manuscripts for production; prepare accurate and up-to-date front matter, and obtaining CIP from Library of Congress.
A successful candidate will have:
• A Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills required to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Great attention to detail.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive internal and external relationships.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse and strong personalities.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Internet, etc.
A successful candidate may have:
• One year of experience in publishing.
