Company Interfaces:
The DMM will report directly to the VP-GMM and will be based in Sunderland, Vermont. Reporting to the DMM will be the Men’s Merchandising buyers.
The DMM will be responsible for serving the product needs of Consumer Direct (Mail Order & E-Commerce), Retail and Dealer businesses and their respective market managers.
General Responsibilities:
This is a key leadership position in the merchandising division, overseeing all aspects of the men’s product category. In this role, the DMM will be responsible for ensuring that the men’s division supports the company direction and develops men’s product strategies to support those goals. The DMM is accountable for category Gross Profit generation (IMU, pricing, promotion planning) to meet company requirements. In addition, this leader will help to foster an environment that promotes personal development of buyers and their businesses, high morale amongst entire buying team and personally set the example for development of staff.
The responsibilities for this role also include:
• Sets the overall strategy and merchandise direction for the division.
• Guides and inspires presentation of category products in all channels of distribution. Specifically accountable for architecture of Consumer Direct channel.
• Category champion within company for largest product category necessitating confidence building communication and business skills.
• Direct buyers to develop assortments that support the needs of the customer and the financial objectives of the merchandise division.
• Ensure that pricing, promotional strategies, and marketing support the financial objectives of the men’s merchandise division.
• Works with the planning organization to develop assortment plans that support overall strategy of in-stock positioning for key merchandise categories, classifications, items and vendors.
• Timely processing of product sensitive to timelines of supporting functions (Inventory, Sourcing, Advertising).
• Work with the buyers to strengthen market relationships and knowledge of market trend, strengths and weaknesses.
• Understand competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategy.
Qualifications Desired:
• Prior DMM experience with a minimum of 7-10 years of management/buying experience in a multi-channel retail organization.
• Strong leadership profile.
• Highly organized and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to develop and empower a team.
