Director/Vice President - Corporate Issues (IR, Financial Comms, Restructuring)
Description
The Company New York office is looking to expand its Financial and Investor Relations team and is looking for Director/Vice President level professionals with financial communications expertise to join its rapidly growing Corporate Issues and IR Practice. Members of the Practice have the opportunity to work on a broad range of financial, crises and issues, reputational, digital and litigation. The group’s clients span all industries and range from private institutions to global Fortune 100 companies
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Leadership
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of a client's business, industry and relevant media
• Develop long-term plans and programs, including strategy and recommendations; partner with senior management as appropriate to develop strategic and creative approach
• Breakdown and manage detailed tasks with the account team associated with planning and implementing special public relations strategies, comfortable working across multiple accounts at once and multiple categories
• Counsel team members relative to media pitching, make pitch recommendations and counsel team regarding specific assignments or beats
• Maintain solid understanding of “big picture” view of client programs and relationship: maintain awareness of future client events and activities and how they impact agency
Workplace Leadership
• Key contact for internal staff to address issues
• Mentor, coach and support all team members including recommending training schemes and dealing effectively with under performers
• Ensure proper training and development of staff by contributing to work plan of junior team members, ensuring proper guidance that leads to the creation of exceptional work product quality, and appropriate delegation to team members to allow project ownership and tactical skill development
• Promote team cooperation by actively seeking the opinions and views of team members of all levels
• Manager level or higher, making recommendations regarding promotions, skill development, etc.
• Attend account reviews and staff meetings - provide ongoing communications and feedback
• Help manage staffing of team including identifying candidates, reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates
Strategic Leadership
• Serve as central member of client planning team
• Work closely with senior management to develop strategic plans for clients and draft strategic client documents
• Clearly communicate the vision, goals and strategy for client development to the team
• Identify new growth opportunities for the short to medium term, based on insights into the company, client, industry and economy
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• 6+ years experience driving Investor Relations and financial communications strategies for large complex organizations – either from the perspective of an agency or a consulting firm, or within a dynamic in-house communications firm.
• Minimum Bachelors Degree
Additional Qualifications:
• Solid understanding of the finance industry, insights into the company, client, industry and economy trade and news outlets.
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to understand big picture view of client programs and relationship: maintain awareness of future client events and activities and how they impact the business
• Entrepenurial, with proven record of researching and developing growing opportunities
• Flexible, accustomed to working in ambiguity while still driving momentum to meet deadlines.
