The Director, U.S. Research will be responsible for supporting all efforts of domestic research teams in all areas with specific oversight of the SVOD and cable sales support efforts. This person will support business owners by managing measurement, performing deep-dive analysis, and identifying actionable insights to optimize business KPI’s for several Company Television business lines.
A key function of the role will be to provide sales support for domestic cable and SVOD distribution teams. They will work closely with the stakeholders through the entire process of analyzing data, formulating positioning points, visualizing data, and overseeing the layout and design process. They will be challenged to think creatively and use the available tools to more efficiently process and better visualize relevant data sets to the business partners, from the regularly reported data to ad hoc analyses.
The ideal candidate is an innovative thinker and proactive leader that brings outstanding analytical skills, an interest in business intelligence and data visualization, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a passion for television.
Key Deliverables:
• Manage relationships with multiple business teams (distribution sales, programming, and marketing, among others) by providing objective and sales positioning information and insights to support their specific areas.
• Provide high-quality, in-depth, exhaustive sales materials to the distribution teams on often aggressive timelines.
• Develop, publish and present regular executive updates
• Maintain expertise of current trends in the television landscape and best practices in data measurement and reporting
• Be responsive to large and small data requests from various SPT business areas
Experience/Skills:
• Requires bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in a U.S. television analytics role
• Proven experience in cable and SVOD research
• Extensive experience with Nielsen software platforms including NNTV, NPower, Ad Intel, Extended Playback and OTT Reporting, among others
• Understanding of and willingness to learn data analytics tools such as Tableau
• Understanding of and willingness to learn non-Nielsen data and software, including MRI, Symphony, ePoll, Ipsos TV Dailies, among others
• Exceptional problem solving and data analysis skills combined with the ability to communicate findings to all levels of an organization
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills who can create strong working relationships with clients
• Leadership skills and ability to work in a matrix environment
• Ability to work with tight deadlines and handle multiple projects
