Overview and Responsibilities
The Research Director will be a member of Nickelodeon’s Consumer Insights Team, which supports all of Nickelodeon’s various lines of business with non-ratings-based brand and consumer insights. The Consumer Insights Research Director will report to the VP, Brand & Consumer Insights and will lead and manage quantitative research projects that support Nickelodeon, its digital channels and their off-channel businesses.
Responsibilities
• Overseeing all aspects of Nickelodeon’s Brand research and Marketing Tracking Study
• Managing vendors
• Survey development and modifications
• Sample and weighting
• Fieldwork
• Research analysis and dissemination of findings – report and/or presentation
• Mining quantitative databases looking for uncovered insights and stories
• Providing general consultative support to the Consumer Insights team on quant projects and offering basic statistical analysis support as needed
• Collaborating with the rest of the Consumer Insights team on quant and qual projects and stepping in to manage projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications
• Educated to a degree level or equivalent; degree in business, research, child development or psychology a plus
• Extensive experience (8 plus years) in quantitative consumer and market research gained through positions with a high quality custom market research supplier, advertising agency or corporation
Additional Qualifications
• Solid understanding of qualitative research methodologies
• Proficient in SPSS or similar statistical software, with a strong understanding of complex statistical analyses
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Ease in finding the stories in both quantitative and qualitative data and integrating the insights in storytelling
• Track record of conducting strategically-driven research on a broad range of topics, including attitudes and behavior, positioning, brand equity, content, consumer products, etc.
• Some kid-based research experience a must.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Comfort in presenting to both small and large groups, both informally and formally
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal skills
