Description
The Director, Current Products, Variable Annuity (VA) Market Management will report to the VP, Current and In-force, VA Market Management and is responsible for monitoring sales trends for open products and supporting the sales organization in meeting their goals while maintaining desired sales mix and return targets. Additional responsibilities include understanding product competitive position vs. all competing solutions (not just annuities), and implementing regular enhancements to existing open products as well as proactively managing the rate setting process for these products.
Responsibilities
• Effectively collaborate in a matrix environment both within the Product Management team and beyond to executeregular (likely quarterly) product enhancement initiatives
• Lead a cross-functional team and partner closely across all business functions to identify challenges, define solutions, and execute measurable results
• Lead rate setting activities for VA products, providing data regarding competitive landscape to facilitate decisions and driving actions to support achievement of ROE targets, where applicable.
• Monitor trends for new business at a granular level (ex. sales and commission trends by firm/channel) to support management of existing products and influence product enhancement strategy
• Define product specifications for regular product enhancements (likely quarterly)
• Understandthe competitive landscape and market trends of various financial industryproducts and product lines which include pricing, benefit structure, and marketing approach; identifying any gaps and implementing solutions for our products.
• Closely partner with Sales & Service to gain insight into operational & sales process challenges, identify potential actions and incorporate into product enhancement prioritization process through the Strategic Product Oversight Council
• Closely partner with Compliance, Law, & Risk in implementation of enhancements and new processes & regulatory requirements
• Establish relationships and credibility with leaders across Annuities; actively positioning and communicating new information, product updates and ongoing product reporting to all levels of employees.
• Work with senior leadership to stress the importance of initiatives in order to gain acceptance and ultimately resource prioritization for product initiatives.
• Collaborate withother Prudential businesses in order to identify new business opportunities, share best practices and ultimately leverage opportunities.
Qualifications
• 10 years relevant experience in Financial Services field required
• A minimum of 5 years experience in a retirement related field
• Proven success in implementing or creating strategically compelling business cases for product development projects that deliver results to meet business goals.
• Very strong strategic thinker and leader, is proactive and takes initiative
• Self starter – can assess what work needs to be completed and how to get it done
• Knowledge of financial services products and industry.
• Excellent influencing, organizational, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without authority. Effectively collaborating with multiple levels within the internal organization as well as investment professionals and wholesalers.
• Strength of convictions and ability to influence and champion change
• Ability to effectively manage several dissimilar projects and prioritize.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• BA/BS degree required
• Series 6 license required within 180 days from hire date.
