Job Description
This department head position is responsible for overseeing the Tennis Department. S/he is accountable for maximizing Member satisfaction, exceeding the financial plan and providing leadership for the Tennis department. The Tennis Director prepares an annual budget and achieves these financial goals throughout the year, through proper forecasting, cost controls and labor management.
Specific responsibilities include facility maintenance, hiring/training staff, Member instructional/activity programming and pro shop/service operations. The Tennis Director also owns the logistics and promotion of leagues, round robins, drop-in, ladders, tournaments and seasonal events. In addition, s/he must develop and promote tennis clinics, private lessons, adult, junior and senior programs.
Facility maintenance responsibilities include maintaining courts in a professional manner and ensure that the environment is safe for all those who use the facility.
The Tennis Director is an advocate and ambassador of STAR Service and understanding the critical role that membership and exceeding expectations play in regards to the success of the operation.
Job Requirements
• 3 years as Head Tennis Professional/ Tennis Director.
• Extensive private club experience required.
• Minimum of USPTA Pro 1 rating, 4.5+ playing ability.
• Experience with training of Tennis Employees.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred. USPTA continuing education.
• Comprehensive knowledge of expense control as it relates to service payroll and the forecasting/budgeting of expenses.
• Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with members, employee partners and guests.
