Job Summary
The Director Operations will oversee operations and perform management functions at venues and events in the Convention Center and Antiguo Casino. The Director Operations will be responsible for day-to-day operations to ensure all event needs are met. This position will work closely with staff to provide a high level customer service in order to ensure a friendly, safe environment at all events, and work with operations team on developing policies and procedures, assist with planning and cost estimates. Additionally, the Director Operations will oversee personnel staffing, job performance, budget, equipment and supplies inventory, and provide input on venue improvements
Essential Duties
•Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching and counseling subordinates; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problem.
•Comply with management agreement with the district authority (PRCCDA) by maintain PRCC in optimal operating condition.
•Develops and implements the most efficient and cost effective means for operation of mechanical, HVAC and associated equipment.
•Ensures the quality of services and workmanship by managing, planning, scheduling, supervising and training engineering and electrical maintenance personnel. Oversees the maintenance of the PRCC, grounds and facility equipment.
•Prepares and submits operating, capital equipment and capital maintenance budgets. Maintains budget tracking in compliance with operating goals. Manages resources to ensure compliance with budget objectives, and standards of facility and equipment repair, equipment inventory and cost control.
•Responsible for ensuring that outside work performed by other service providers, contractors and agencies for the facility or Licensees is coordinated through their office to insure the work is conducted within prescribed industry standards and norms.
Required Qualifications
•A minimum education level of: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
•7+ years of related professional experience; minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality or convention center setting; experience in a supervisory/management role
•Bilingual language fluency (English/Spanish) required
•Experience working with vendors to negotiate and manage contracts
•Knowledge of general building maintenance, including preventive maintenance; Information Technology; and security operations
•Ability to maintain good business relations with guests, clients and service providers
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project), and the ability to learn required business systems
•Ability to work independently and drive results
•Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a high pressure environment
•Must possess exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
•Experience in preparing and monitoring a budget to include: personnel forecasting; revenue projections; and capital improvements
