Overview
A Director of Instruction will work independently to instruct Company guests in golf lessons, player development series, and event lessons, teach new lead instructors best practices of coaching guests, and manage leagues, tournaments and player development series. In addition to managing an essential service to Company guests, the Director of Instruction will also assist the Golf Services Manager in maintaining leagues and tournaments. The Director of Instruction will be responsible for scheduling and managing private/semi-private, group and event lessons and will be expected to manage lead instructors.
This position requires an outstanding golf instructor who possesses good communication and managerial skills. The position should have experience in golf instruction and player development programs for guests of all ages and ability levels. Preferred qualifications include expertise in golf school and/or golf clinic administration.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate, schedule and maintain lessons for guests throughout the year
• Provide individual and semi-private lessons
• Train lead instructors on golf instruction at Company, management of programs, and best practices with swing analysis technology
• Utilize swing analysis technology (e.g., phone/tablet applications, launch monitors) and learning theories, and be able to integrate the use of teaching aids where appropriate in all programs
• Grow the golf services platform at your site, through marketing and community outreach
• Direct leagues, tournaments and/or player development series
• Manage summer camps (e.g., Company Academy)
• Work with events team to promote events lesson scheduling and provide lessons at events
• Walk the tee line on all levels during peak times (when not engaged in golf instruction)
• Supervise information requests regarding or pertaining to schedule of lessons and instructional series
• Manage and implement ideas for player development series at site level
• Club fitting, club repair and general maintenance of equipment
• Maintain inventory of golf services tools, technology and teaching aids
• Assist with coordination of Company University (summit)
• Attend all meetings scheduled by the management team, including monthly conference calls with other golf instructors at other Company locations
• Follow budgetary requirements for the golf services program
Key Qualifications
Required experience and education:
• Experience teaching golf lessons (3-4 years)
• PGA Membership
• Management of independent golf lesson program and/or oversight of other golf instructors
• Proven track record of successful instruction
• Exceptional coaching ability to interact with and develop golf instructors
• Highly developed communication skills
• Social and interpersonal skills required to interact with all Company guests
• Familiarity with swing analysis technology
• Ability to develop positive and ongoing relationships with guests
• Ability to interact effectively with varying personalities
Preferred experience
• Business background (Bachelor’s degree or above)
• Experience coaching with different levels of golfers
• Use of launch monitor technology (e.g., FlightScope, Trackman)
• Use of swing analysis applications (e.g., V1, Ubersense, Winning Identity)
