Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Director of E-Commerce Merchandising & Buying
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for the development, planning and execution of product strategy and assortment that meets or exceeds financial goals. Direct and manage the people and activities of the E-Commerce Merchandising team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop seasonal product strategies and financial targets for E-Commerce in conjunction with Planners. Provide E-Commerce insight and influence direction and development of product assortments by Design & Buying. Give feedback on necessary action such as changes to order quantities, deliveries, pricing or mark-down strategies. Adjust future product strategies based on in-season analysis and observations. Identify buying assortment opportunities for E-Commerce exclusives.
Manage photo studio production process to ensure quality product imagery and efficient flow of product assortment. Review and optimize visual digital presentation of merchandise on listing pages and product pages. Identify seasonal and market trends and ensure site representation via campaigns, site taxonomy, product merchandising Continuously monitor site for any issues relating to technical, pricing, visual, content and copy.
Work closely with E-Mail/Customer Experience Management (CEM) team for brand/creative delivery of email campaigns. Influence web design team to creatively execute online campaigns. Direct Copy team to effectively communicate trend and product features.
Collaborate with Planning team to review promotional events and key business initiatives for stores to ensure E-Commerce participation. Develop, communicate and execute alternative promotional strategies to supplement or replace any promotions that are planned for stores, but cannot be executed online. Reviews sales and profit dollars versus prior year and plan, and develops strategic and actionable plans to improve upon them.
Direct the supervision of site merchandisers and indirectly supervise merchandise coordinators. Monitor development and performances through regular meetings to discuss goals vs actuals. Act as a role model and provide leadership by directing, focusing and inspiring team members to keep their efforts on track.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
