The Director of Development will lead a team that works with internal customers and external vendors to build cutting-edge web sites and mobile applications to support the Company Reach advertising sales division within Charter. This person will serve as the main point of contact for all development and vendor management around this effort.
Responsibilities:
Company Reach Sites & Applications
• Support key web and mobile properties including Company website, the intranet and internal / vendor built tools, along with the associated environments
• Develop and articulate solutions based on strategic business requirements ascertained from working with multiple business units across the organization that map directly to the organization’s strategy
• Partner with Platform Engineering on the design of enterprise environments
• Consult with internal teams and stakeholders to best understand strategic and tactical goals, current issues, challenges, budgets and resources
• Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements to support existing business to include analyzing and documenting user requirements, processes, procedures and problems to improve existing processes
• Serve as the foremost authority within the organization on web and mobile technologies, mobile implementation, mobile application development, and integrative or cross-functional mobile efforts
• Develop and maintain a toolkit of software development, support, deployment, optimization, and testing tools enabling performance and feature/functionality gains
• Develop and maintain a library of reusable app dev code, code development support, and standards for knowledge sharing across a developer community
• Socialize the mobile and mobile app dev methodology and related Best Practices to business segments and partners.
• Operate a continuous improvement service delivery model to increase efficiencies for delivery
• Coordinate with development leads, platform support teams, and QA/Testing groups across lines of business to enable scalability, performance, best-in-class solutions, and successful dev outcomes
Service delivery:
• Maintain catalog of services available for the Enterprise.
• Socialize the services to business segments and partners.
• Manage resources required to implement solutions for business customers.
• Establish success criteria for with financial, project management and key performance indicators
Governance & Standards
• Responsibly manage standards across
• Application development frameworks & technologies
• Upgrades and changes across platforms and deployments
• New implementations, technologies & usage
• Competitive and Industry level parity across web / mobile capabilities
• Establish/leverage a governance model and lead governance meetings with senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to design new processes, policies and procedures for a Service Delivery Model.
• Monitor the environment and address adherence to standards
• Participate in the release management process
• Enable leadership through understanding and application of choices and enterprise level strategic and tactical level perspectives around web/mobile and accessibility standards
Vendor management:
• Serve as point managing numerous vendor relationships supporting Web/Mobile Application Services, including the execution of RFIs, RFPs, SOWs, SLAs and other required documentation.
• Partner with stakeholders across business and IT to develop and execute effective vendor evaluations and where necessary, on-site proofs of concepts and “bake-offs.”
• Continuously monitor the performance of incumbent business-side digital vendors against SLAs, resolving and/or escalating issues when and where appropriate.
Stakeholder engagement:
• Interact heavily with stakeholders. Focus on educating stakeholders on the value of the team’s capabilities, expertise, knowledgebase and delivery capability to solve specific problems.
• Work to understand business and help stakeholders to understand ways to leverage existing web solutions to improve cost and speed to market.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years development experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a leader in Web/Mobile solution delivery
• Strong foundational knowledge of mobile and internet technologies, development practices, mobile service capabilities, and competence in a former developer/tech lead or architect role.
• Experience developing for Company website, Splunk and financial data is a plus.
• Familiarity with Minimally Viable Product (MVP) and iterative design and development methodology, with experience in application development.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with customers and technical staff

• Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to break down complex problems
• Able to set and manage team priorities effectively in a dynamic organization
• Ability to represent complex issues, operational metrics and key performance indicators to Senior Management
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors, and influence course of actions in a highly matrixed environment
• Strong working knowledge of web content management capabilities and business value
• Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to identify issues and design web solutions that effectively address issues and produce actionable results
• Excellent business understanding and the ability to leverage technology to solve business needs.
• The ability to think strategically, while driving quality in a highly complex technology operating environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate with various constituencies.
