The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is home to one of the finest collegiate athletic programs in the nation, proudly supporting 20 intercollegiate athletic programs that compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). With each season, the Warhawks build on a tradition of academic and athletic excellence. This decade has seen the Warhawks capture National Championships in baseball, volleyball, football, gymnastics and men’s basketball. The success of Warhawk sports teams parallel the accomplishments inside the classroom of UW-Whitewater student-athletes. With 39 chancellor scholar-athletes, and a grade point average over 3.0, Warhawk student-athlete success happens both in the classroom and on the field of play.
The Director of Athletics reports directly to the Chancellor and serves as a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet. The Director of Athletics’ primary role is to lead the administrative and operational functions of the UW-Whitewater Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Director’s work shall be conducted in a manner that promotes the mission of the University while actively creating and promoting an environment that allows students to reach their fullest potential in both academics and athletics. Engaging in a variety of fundraising activities is critical to expanding Departmental revenue streams and providing the margin of excellence for the athletic programs. The
Director shall be responsible for managing a budget of approximately $5.5 million while leading the Department’s coaches and staff in the marketing, promotion and advancement of championship-caliber athletic programs. The Director shall work closely and collaboratively with internal campus and external community constituencies.

Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an NCAA intercollegiate athletic program or other equivalent experience in legal, business or financial management. Must have a record of progressively increasing responsibilities and related managerial experience.
• Master’s degree or equivalent.
• Commitment to excellence in academic and athletic achievement.
• History of successful leadership and management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to personal and programmatic integrity, compliance, equal opportunity and gender equity.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Demonstrated ability for promoting an intercollegiate athletics program.
• Demonstrated ability of promoting fund-raising and stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated ability for successful fiscal management of an athletic program.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
• 7-10 years of experience in an NCAA intercollegiate athletic program.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop and supervise coaches in an effective manner that leads to success in their respective athletic programs.
