The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill is an accredited polytechnic college that is primarily baccalaureate and residential. Job Description
The Athletic Director is responsible for the development, management, coordination, and supervision of an NCAA DIII/ NEAC (Northeast Athletics Conference) athletics program with 19 programs, 24 staff members, and 240 student athletes. In addition, the Athletic Director oversees the academic courses related to sports and exercise. The Athletic Director:
1. Builds an athletics program that aligns with and is committed to the university's mission and strategic priorities 2. Provides visionary leadership, strategic planning, and policy development for the athletics program as well as the academic courses related to sports and exercise 3. Recruits and manages the athletics staff who are committed to the welfare of the student athlete, compliance rules, and professionalism 4. Collaborates with the Dean of Business & Liberal Arts on curriculum matters 5. Oversees intramurals and recreation and summer camps 6. Collaborates across campus with departments outside of athletics on new initiatives as well as existing programs such as retention and persistence, diversity and inclusion, admitted student days, orientation, open houses, community service, and the like 7. Collaborates with the Development Office to raise funds for the athletic department 8. Develops and Administers the overall athletic budget 9. Ensures compliance with all university, SUNY, national association, and conference policies, rules, and regulations. 10. Creates a welcoming environment for diversity and inclusion within athletics and in collaboration with the campus community
Minimum Requirements
• Master's Degree in Athletic Administration or closely related field.
• Eight years of progressive experience coaching at the collegiate level as well as teaching college-level courses.
• Strong record of team-building, staff development and collaboration.
Preferred Requirements
In addition to the aforementioned minimum requirements, it is preferred that the candidate have:
• Experience working at the senior management-level in athletics.
• Experience in fundraising, donor stewardship, and athletic development activities.
