Job Summary:
The Director of Implementation Engineering will play a key role in the evolution, deployment, and optimization of Next Generation Access Networks and systems to enable delivery of advanced data, voice, and video services in support of Business Services across Company systems. The Director of Implementation Engineering will actively engage with headquarters, divisional, and regional teams to help define, track and report on implementation of plan-of-record national initiatives including Fiber Deep, EPON, DOCSIS 3.1, will assist with planning of best fit access solutions, will assist identify and deploying processes and solutions that improve network reliability, and assure optimal capital spending, while meeting national service deployment targets across multiple lines of business.
The position demands understanding of key access technologies and services including coaxial and fiber transport media, DOCSIS protocols, EPON, Metro Ethernet, Cell Backhaul, EoHFC, DWDM, CCAP, and DPoE platforms. Works as a collaborative member of the sales team, providing specific product and/or technical knowledge, advice, and support. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Provide Company divisions and regions with technical leadership to guide the integration of next generation architectures, technologies, and solutions into Company access networks, in support of deployment of new products and services for Business Services.
2. Ensures compliance and clear communications of access network strategies.
3. Work with headquarters, divisions, and region teams to define deployment and operation standards, and document best practices.
4. Work with business units, divisional, and regional teams, and vendor teams, to develop best-fit platform solutions and equipment.
5. Be an active contributor to the cross functional project planning process to support access technology trials and early deployments. Assist in the development of trail plans and use cases.
6. Act as a subject matter expert to division and region teams to ensure wide dissemination of national technical standards and policies. Collect and consolidate field equipment and plant issues and concerns, drive technical development of joint solutions with National teams, and incorporate relevant developments into architectural templates and practices.
7. Partner with access technology vendors and Purchasing teams to drive standard product configurations, simplify product offerings, and evaluate new solutions for Business Services applications.
8. Assist cross functional teams during evaluation, development, selection, and deployment of new architectures, technologies and or vendor platforms. Ensure the teams stay on track to meet national objectives and priorities.

Job Specification:
1. Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Equivalent relevant work experience, minimum 10 years. Experience in access technologies including design, deployment, and operations. Exposure to EPON, DWDM and other transport technologies. Must be current with industry standards and trends
2. Good understanding of Company end to end service deployment and provisioning processes.
3. Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, must be able to multi-task in a demanding and deadline driven environment with minimum supervision
4. Very strong oral and written communications a must. Experience presenting to industry peers.
5. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
6. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
7. Must possess strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills (process flows, analysis, measurements, and quality improvement methodologies). Must be able to perform basic business case analyses / calculations, and to compare opportunity costs and benefits between different alternatives.
8. Willingness to travel as needed, typical travel will be 50% or greater.
