Company seeks a seasoned communications pro to help develop and drive the company’s overarching corporate narratives.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with corporate communications and media relations, able to effectively manage a nimble team while juggling various public relations projects. Must have strong traditional media chops, with a solid track record of working directly with reporters pitching, placing, and shaping stories to tell the company narrative. Must be equally adept at owned media, able to amplify our narrative on digital and social channels.
Responsibilities
• Develop narratives and drive strategy to support overarching corporate objectives
• Oversee external communications for a variety of Blizzard’s corporate efforts, including corporate social responsibility, executive communications, esports, and financial and legal communications
• Lead a team of communications professionals, ensuring they’re delivering against the team’s objectives, maintaining high levels of engagement
• Initiate crisis communications efforts
• Use existing and build new meaningful relationships with press to drive positive coverage
• Prioritize media opportunities, and develop talking points, speeches, presentations, and other supporting materials for executives and spokespeople
• Ensure communications efforts are consistent, relevant, and timely in nature
• Measure and monitor the effectiveness of communications
• Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and their teams across the business
Requirements
• College degree in communications or related field, master’s degree preferred
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing corporate communications for high-profile, consumer-facing company
• Experience managing people and leading high-functioning teams
• Ability to design, manage, and grow corporate brand, image, and public relations programs in order to raise public awareness for Blizzard’s accomplishments while safeguarding the company’s image and reputation
• Experience working cross-functionally with employees and managers at all levels within the organization as well as with outside agencies
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and possess a high level of accuracy with information
• Strong aptitude to seek out and analyze business and consumer needs to deliver messages using the most suitable mix of media and channels across multiple platforms
• Fluent in traditional and social media
• A passion for video games and the Blizzard brand
• Ability to work long hours and weekends, as well as travel, as needed
