Description:
The Director – Sales Finance is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, reporting analysis, and budget functions for the business unit. The Director – Sales Finance will manage a team of Finance professionals. The Director – Sales Finance will provide financial leadership, decision support, and direction to support the senior management team's achievement of the business plan. This position will partner with members of the business to identify and evaluate opportunities to create value. The Director – Sales Finance will also be required to evaluate sales investment decisions. Ability to identify key metrics and to produce meaningful reports is required, but converting this information into analytical insights is essential. To be successful, the Director – Sales Finance must understand financial concepts, excellent interpersonal skills, a bias for action and a passion to create value.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Planning and Forecasting:
◦ Operate as a trusted advisor to assigned operating units within Company by delivering relevant analysis to functional leadership.
◦ Drive the budgeting and planning process as well as financial analysis of key business operations and metrics.
◦ Ensure timely and accurate development of monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, variance analysis, budgets, and quarterly guidance estimates.
◦ Develop/enhance revenue and expense forecasting models.
• Management Reporting:
◦ Own the design and development of monthly and quarterly reporting packets with an emphasis on insightful reporting of key business drivers and trends to the senior management team.
• Value Added Analytics:
◦ Create forward looking financial models and analysis to support key future growth opportunities and strategic projects.
◦ Work with key sales leadership to develop long-term financial projections.
◦ Utilize financial concepts to thoroughly analyze operating segments and opportunities with the goal of maximizing shareholder value.
◦ Identify and monitor key business operating metrics to ensure successful value creation relative to expectations.
• Management:
◦ Develop and train staff to meet the needs of the department.
◦ Provide support to staff including understanding of work volumes and meeting appropriate internal service levels.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE:
• MBA in Finance
• Previous experience in corporate finance, investment banking, valuation, consulting, or other technical background is desirable.
• Previous experience in analytical roles with an emphasis on business partner support and interfacing with senior management.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience utilizing advanced financial concepts required, to include 5 years of management experience.
• Direct sales finance experience is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with financial reporting and planning systems and database modeling are a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics and analytics.
• Skills in complex problem solving, judgment, critical thinking and decision making.
• Advanced computer skills are required.
• High proficiency in excel spreadsheet financial modeling, simulation engines, and data base query tools.
• Ability to develop and mentor staff.
• Ability in analysis including comparative ROI, cost-benefit, valuation, basic statistical models, and cost accounting.
• Ability to interact at all levels of the company and with external parties in a professional manner maintaining effective communication, both written and spoken.
• Ability to be highly organized with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
• Ability to tolerate stress and be adaptable, flexible, persistent, versatile and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations.
• Ability to organize information and have attention to detail and accurately follow procedures.
• Ability to maintain self-motivation and to work independently and in team environments.
• Ability to piece together conclusions and apply rules to produce answers that make sense
