The Opportunity

The Role
The Director of Global Indies Film Publicity will play a key role in strategizing, creating, executing and managing publicity campaigns for Company independent films and will work across several different disciplines that are bringing original films to fruition here at Company. He/she will play a critical role in communicating with internal cross functional partners, filmmakers, talent and production company partners during production through launch. They will focus on creating cultural moments and high impact campaigns, explore new tactics of promoting independent films, and will be able to communicate different facets of their campaigns to executives, filmmakers, talent and talent representatives. She or he will pitch media, secure opportunities, cover set visits, formulate a strategy approach to festivals and help plan and work junkets. International experience or knowledge of international media is a bonus. She or he has also worked alongside agencies, or has managed agencies on projects. The Director will also help coordinate requests and initiatives from international territories and will help prioritize what is important and vital to accomplish. They can formulate and manage a budget, and give visibility into their process successfully.
The ideal candidate is not just a film publicist, but a Company publicist, representing and understanding our brand. He/she will understand the film market, be intellectually curious about entertainment and technology, and relate that knowledge to their campaigns. They must have a solid business acumen and a strong work ethic. They thrive in an environment of freedom, take the initiative, and use sound judgement to independently make wise decisions. He/she are scrappy, unafraid to jump in and handle tasks at all levels and they succeed in an environment void of bureaucracy and layers. They are candid and direct, even when that approach might be controversial, and understand that sometimes the job requires delivering bad news. The role will report to the head of original film publicity.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a strong leader familiar with the Company culture deck and is eager to work among like-minded colleagues and embrace the company's philosophies. They will have at least 8 years of entertainment experience and will be able to successfully strategize and communicate innovative publicity campaigns and work well across disciplines to execute on said campaigns. Experience working on awards campaigns is a plus. The role is global, so international experience is a bonus but not a deal breaker. The ideal candidate is high energy, motivated with has strong relationship-building capabilities and a capacity to work in a very fast-paced environment. They will have current experience working hands-on with US media and filmmakers/talent alike.
