Soccer is the global game and the fastest growing sport in the country. Minnesota United FC is the epicenter of growth of the game in the Twin Cities and Minnesota. Under new ownership and re-branded at the beginning of the 2013 Season, Minnesota United FC is dedicated to growing professional soccer in the state of Minnesota. Their position as a growing sports franchise creates a unique atmosphere where “start-up” meets pro sports team.
Currently a club in the North American Soccer League (NASL), Minnesota United was awarded an expansion spot in Major League Soccer on March 25, 2015. The club will begin play in the top tier of American Soccer in 2017 or 2018, with plans to build a soccer specific stadium in the works.
With the addition of the MLS team in Minnesota, 13 clubs have joined MLS since 2005, fulfilling an expansion vision that has transformed the landscape of professional soccer acrosmls-primary_colors North Company website the League office headquartered in New York City, Major League Soccer features 20 clubs throughout the United States and Canada.
