SUMMARY
Company’s Finance team is seeking a Director, Accounting who will be an exceptional addition to our Accounting team. As a Director, Accounting at Company, you will be the ‘go-to’ for the majority of Company’s technical accounting matters, own Company’s financial statement reporting process, oversee all external and internal financial statement audits, and manage our Workday ERP system. You will play an integral role in establishing Company’s accounting best practices and policies, ensuring technical memos are prepared, and facilitating the documentation of internal controls. The right person for this role has extensive technical knowledge, has prior success managing and developing a team, and has a strong professional presence with an air of gravitas that commands respect. WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Own the preparation and reporting of Company’s internal monthly and quarterly reporting as well as the preparation of the quarterly and annual GAAP consolidated financial statements and supporting footnotes.
• Ensure appropriate application of GAAP across all faucets of the financials including period end accruals, reserve requirements, and consolidation of foreign operations. Prepare ad hoc technical memos to support the appropriate accounting treatment for new complex accounting topics as they arise.
• Oversee compliance, working with peers across the accounting organization to lead the establishment and maintenance of internal controls documentation for all accounting processes and identify process efficiency opportunities.
• Manage the ongoing maintenance and development of Company’s ERP system (Workday).
• Own the relationship with Company’s external auditors (Ernst and Young, LLP) including fee negotiations and coordinating the facilitation of all audit requests with the accounting team.
• Own the relationships with Company’s Media Partner internal audit departments including satisfying all audits requests as well as designing mitigation strategies for any deficiencies identified during the audits.
• Manage a team of eight. Provide ongoing mentorship and identify opportunities for development and growth.
• Summarize and present Company’s financial position and specific technical accounting matters to Company’s VP Controllership.
WHAT TO BRING
• 10 years of professional experience with demonstrated success in the key responsibilities for this role
• At least 6 years of experience from a Big 4 accounting firm with experience reviewing mid-size company financial statements
• At least 6 years of management experience with demonstrated success in developing staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex accounting matters simply and succinctly to senior level executives
• Maturity to handle sensitive personnel information
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
• Bachelor’s degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting from a major university
NICE-TO-HAVES
• Active CPA license
• Accounting experience in the media and entertainment industry
