Overview

The Director of Business Development, will work closely with the Managing Director of Central America and the Caribbean (CAC), to create and deliver a strategy for Business Development in the territory, ensuring that targets set for the area are met and that Sony Music is at the forefront of all new non-traditional opportunities. This job is based in Miami, Florida.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain strong business relationships across all levels, internal and external to the organization, particularly heads of labels, business development teams within the Latin region, priority artists and their management.
• Actively seek and generate opportunities to promote priority artists regionally and internationally.
• Spot, develop, and execute projects that are aligned with Latin-Iberia business strategy.
• Lead short and long term strategies to ensure a clear and consistent message for priority artists.
• Research and evaluate product needs, industry landscape, and market trends, and formulate strategy for maximum optimization of resources.
• Provide vision and leadership in partnership with the Managing Director for developing and executing clearly defined business development strategies in a manner that supports consistent, targeted growth while enhancing business and client relationships and revenues.
• Identify and develop leads with appropriate non-traditional retailers and other non retail Business Development propositions to maximise Sony Music’s opportunities to exploit its catalogue.
• Develop and maintain a database of non-traditional contacts and regularly provide updates as to the status of each relationship.
• Drive revenue streams through successful negotiation of deal terms for the use of SME repertoire by brands with audio/visual projects and sponsorship opportunities.
• Establish and maintain trading terms/deals with new customers.
• Ensure that the Label Groups are aware of the opportunities across the CAC territory for Business Development and play an active role in supporting each new initiative and opportunity as appropriate.
• Work with the Consumer Insight team to better understand the market and consumer needs to deliver the best strategy for each release and opportunity.
• Provide regular reports to the Managing Director and other Sony Music business leaders concerning new opportunities with a view to increasing incremental sales and revenue.
• Be aware of Sony Music’s forthcoming release schedule to ensure that we have the ability to plan ahead and work within the buying cycles that non-traditional retailers employ.
• Help the Label Groups to facilitate D2C offerings on all relevant releases, providing support and guidance as appropriate.
Qualifications
• 5+ years record industry experience required.
• Proven results evidenced by portfolio of business development activations.
• High level of literacy. Graduate level education preferred.
• Fully bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
• Good all-round music knowledge (and market knowledge).
• Ability to negotiate, problem solve, and close deals.
• Previous business development experience within a large multinational music company preferred.
• Up-to-date knowledge of market developments, social trends and branding.
• Knowledgeable of the wider retail landscape.

• Organized, multi-tasking, able to manage multiple projects effectively
