Mandate:
The Director Basel & Capital Reporting will lead a team of finance professionals and is accountable for providing financial expertise reporting and oversight supporting the Enterprise level reporting both internal and external for the effective and efficient management of, and providing oversight to Basel and BCAR reporting.
The role is accountable for ensuring all financial components align with Company’s governance requirements and standards, and for the effective execution of governance activities.
The role is accountable to collaborate internally and externally to resolve issues that cut across functional lines and provide solutions ensuring timely, accurate, efficient and effective service delivery. The role ensures proper processes are in place to effectively execute activities in line with regulatory, enterprise, and Finance standards as well as the Bank’s governance policies. And will liaise with all levels of management in various areas of the bank and provides management, coaching and development to team members.
As a key member of the team, the Director Basel & Capital Reporting contributes by providing guidance, decision support, analysis and presentations to senior Finance Risk and LOB leaders; the dimensions include detailed knowledge of product systems and processes underlying the financial results, governance and controls.
Key Accountabilities:
• Partner with Technology & Solutions and business partners on continuous improvement initiatives to automate and streamline processes and systems to make them more efficient and to meet future requirements.
• Accountable for oversight of the Basel and BCAR reporting process for the Bank to ensure all reporting processes are completed effectively, efficiently, and appropriately including:
◦ Overall reporting for all groups across the Bank;
◦ Preparation of regulatory return on a quarterly, monthly and annual basis as required; and
◦ Participate in strategic initiatives and implement processes and procedures to meet reporting requirements.
◦ Participate in various aspects for the production, review and filing of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports filed with various regulatory agencies that are used by the regulators
• Interpret and define internal and external policies and regulatory requirements for reporting.

Controllership
• Ensure accurate, timely and relevant information and reporting of results and reportable segments
• Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
• Prepare quarter end financial reporting submissions to various stakeholders.
• Monitor and report performance indicators against established plans, report variance analysis to identify opportunities and exposures.
• Oversee and provide advice regarding product accounting and financial governance, particularly related to new initiatives and issue resolution.
Operational Excellence/Process/System Improvement
• Review and assess financial reporting risks, apply judgment and ensure risks are within tolerable levels.
• Proactively identify, design, recommend and implement changes to financial processes, financial & compliance type reporting, systems and controls to improve the quality and effectiveness of financial reporting, understanding and transparency of costs and the management of risks.
• Accountable for risk reporting including BASEL III for all groups across the Bank; preparation of regulatory returns related to risk on a quarterly, monthly and annual basis as required
• Participate in various aspects for the production, review and filing of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports filed with various regulatory agencies
• Participate in the development and implementation of large financial reporting and systems change initiative's, ensuring initiatives are implemented seamlessly for the CFO Finance Division.
• Represent, as necessary, the Line of Business/operating group and participate in Bank-wide initiatives involving significant changes to financial reporting systems and processes.
Guidance/Decision Support
• Provide guidance and recommendations to various stakeholders across numerous dimensions including consolidated operating results, forecasts, targets, financial metrics, financial exposures and opportunities, governance, controls, systems and financial processes.
Team Leadership
• Lead a team of highly skilled and engaged professionals who understand their mandate and accountabilities.
• Communicate the Finance vision and strategies.
• Organize the department in an effective way and staff it with personnel with appropriate level of expertise.
• Set context, assign and monitor work of direct reports; provides performance feedback, training, coaching and mentoring as required in order to maintain a high performance culture and meet established goals and objectives.
• Develop and implement a 1-2 year plan factoring strategic positioning, operational and resource plans.
Risk Management & Control
• Ensure all financial components align with Company’s governance requirements and standards, and for the effective execution of governance activities.
• Create and maintain appropriate controls to ensure the reporting process is well controlled, governed, and achieves appropriate outcome.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge:
• CA/CMA/CGA or an MBA in Finance/ Accounting
• Excellent knowledge of Financial reporting and performance management processes
• Very strong knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of Bank information systems
Skills:

• Exceptional relationship management capabilities; ability to develop and foster relationships with and influence senior executives
• Excellent financial analysis ability
