TITLE: Director of Allocation
MISSION/ROLE:
The Director of Allocation is focused on distribution optimization of Company product across our North America marketplace, across Wholesale and Direct to Consumer channels, with a focus on our retail store locations in both full price and outlet concepts. This position reports directly to the Vice President of North America Planning and Allocation and works in close partnership with Company retail field, supply chain, distribution centers, customer service, product planning and product merchandising.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Strategic Analysis
• Lead team to create initial distribution and replenishment plans that support ideal weeks of supply targets to maximize sales trends, profit, presentation requirements and assortment flow
• Develop processes to allocate inventory across North America between wholesale and retail to optimize profit and marketplace needs
• Drive appropriate allocation of stock amongst store, digital and third-party distribution centers
• Manage and create category inventory level goals for new store openings, remodels and refresh projects
• Review and approve channel shipment forecasts to drive appropriate stock levels and provide visibility to payroll needs for DC and store teams
• Responsible for developing, communicating and maintaining the Company Allocation philosophy across all channels to maximize order fulfillment to meet forecasts and financial goals.
• Partner with Customer Service/Operations team to execute an allocation strategy incorporating (future receipts, bookings) early allocation methodology.
• Partner with Customer Service/Operations team on implementing a NA execution strategy for maximum inventory utilization (DTC and WH work flows), and based on inventory ownership (TG, DTC Virtual and Corporate Greenland) to maximize Distribution Center capacity.
• Partner with Customer Service/Operations team to communicate DTC product forecast, utilization commitment, and order flow projections by category by quarter/month/week (US Business/Shipments review).
• Function as ultimate decision maker on Global product distribution flow for styles with limited inventory.
Communication
• Partners and works with other functional leaders to drive overall business strategies
• Ensures excellent customer service is provided to all stores through a consistent process for "push" and "pull" methods of product allocation and information
• Delivers input on possible inventory opportunities and liabilities to product merchandising and planning teams
• Works closely with the senior director of retail stores and store teams on action plans to drive business opportunities
• Monitor execution of end of season transition and communicate process to field management, including communication with district managers and the senior director of stores.
• Ensure timely recaps and communication of business results to cross functional teams
Leadership and People Management
• Lead, coach, and develop team of allocators, from analyst to manager level
• Partner with VP of Planning & Allocation along with cross-functional leadership team to drive effective organizational talent and succession planning
• Create an atmosphere of teamwork and innovation
Tactical Business Management
• Analyze total store top level trends by month and quarter, and makes necessary adjustments and recommendations to improve business performance
• Visit stores regularly to understand market specific client needs
• Strategically manages store to store transfers and the return to vendor process
• Initiate customization of channel and store size profiles to guide initial and replenishment order needs
• Partner with distribution center, logistics and retail operations to ensure shipping processes are optimized
• Participate in the effective development, execution, and updates of the go-to-market process for Company
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
• 5-10 years of allocating, planning and/or buying experience for a multi store retailer
• 5-10 years of experience managing a team of allocation professionals
• Proven success in leading a team to distribute assortments regionally for retail stores
• Experience with planning/allocation systems implementation a plus
• Strong analytical skills and communications skills
• Demonstrated change management, team leadership, and project management
• Efficient with all MS Office applications with strong excel skills
• Ability to travel 15% of time
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
5-10 years of allocating, planning and/or buying experience for a multi store retailer
5-10 years of experience managing a team of allocation professionals
Proven success in leading a team to distribute assortments regionally for retail stores
Experience with planning/allocation systems implementation a plus
Strong analytical skills and communications skills
Demonstrated change management, team leadership, and project management
Efficient with all MS Office applications with strong excel skills
