Position Summary:
The Director, Agile Practice is tasked with strengthening our Agile foundation and program transformation within our Connected Vehicle Services team. As a leader in this space, you will partner with Marketing, UX, Product Management, and Engineering stakeholders across the CVS organization, to help deliver key initiatives for the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Actively partner with Product, UX, Marketing, and Technology stakeholders to align solutions with program objectives within an Agile delivery culture.
• Support issue resolution and risk mitigation, escalating to advisory and steering committee groups, as needed.
• Drive alignment between stakeholder groups and coordinate any cross-functional dependencies.
• Facilitate measurement of program outcomes through analytics.
• Teach/Mentor/Coach teams and leadership on emerging Agile, Lean and Engineering practices.
• Optimize strategic flow across business and technology by identifying opportunities for continuous operational and program management improvements.
• Advance Business, Technology and Operations leadership's understanding of their respective roles within Agile software delivery and influence organizational agility across CVS.
• Expertly apply emerging industry, Agile practices and technology solutions to portfolio initiatives.
• Coach and teach each team how to conduct Feature / Story mapping, how to frame features into something that is demonstrable, right-sized and deployable.
• Coach and help optimize the external intake process.
• Coach, teach and implement an effective means of ingesting product or technology roadmaps into the Agile teams for execution (structures, dissemination of high level goals etc.).
• Coach and guide architectural / platform designers on Agile delivery appropriate modularization.
• Complete restructuring of Agile teams to maximize team self-sufficiency (structures to limit dependencies on other teams within Sprints).
• Complete team to team structures/groups of Agile teams that align with the corporate objectives around product areas, platform and NRE delivery (client custom services).
• Coach and mentor the organization so that each team achieves a repeatable and stable velocity (and thereby enable predictability for delivery forecasting).
• Coach and enable / help implement independent release trains that each run at their own velocity.
• Coach and enable / help implement an efficient feed by each release train into DevOps for release on demand capabilities.
• Coach and mentor the release train managers on scale agile principles.
• Coach and mentor each agile team to where they are capable and able to actively manage their own continuous improvement evolution, appreciate the retrospectives and be excited about working as a team.
• Help guide optimal team colocations.
• Coach and help implement efficient tracking of value creation relative to investment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervision of Agile process, as it pertains to other teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of prior Software Engineering experience.
• Agile expertise.
Requirements and General Skills:
• Demonstrated track record of implementing Agile methodologies and building Agile teams/processes.
• Demonstrated ability to build and apply effective Agile delivery structures with multiple Agile teams.
• Scaled Agile implementation experience a huge plus.
• Ability / experience with team/leadership coaching of Agile best practices and continuous evolvement.
• Track record of experience with applying/operating with Agile/Lean SW delivery methodologies in regulated industries.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
• Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in-person.
• Commitment to "internal client" and customer service principles.
• Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
• Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills.
• Creative writing ability.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
• Hands-on extensive SW development background in an Agile environment.
• Experience with Agile and DevOps implementation and operations.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with leading Agile development teams.
• Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Scaled Agile Management Platform experience.
