The Product Planning, Development, and Marketing Group includes all the functional areas that work together to develop instructional materials that meet current pedagogical and market needs for PreK-12. Content is developed for a wide range of media formats, including interactive digital media as well as print. Colleagues within PDM have varying expertise including the following: subject-matter expertise across all academic subject areas, design, art and photo management, production management, quality assurance, content engineering, and permissions and licensing.
Company (HMH) is looking for a Digital Marketing Manager, focused on Digital Content Strategy. In this role, you will own the content strategy experience across Company’s K12 and eCommerce web presences. You are someone who feels comfortable effectively translating various complex education product user scenarios and purchasing processes into concise and intuitive digital story experiences, from lead generation to eCommerce. Most importantly, you have the ability to distinctly describe our content strategy to other collaborators and stakeholders.
We’re looking for a seasoned and passionate content strategy guru to join our fast-moving Digital Marketing web team. Web presence is one of the most visible, important functions at HMH in terms of driving B2B and B2C customer acquisition, engagement and conversion. Our ideal candidate is a highly organized, visual, and creative thinker as well as passionate about logic and flows. You will use your editor’s instincts to tell the many stories that will drive pre-determined, measurable outcomes. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for a highly self-motivated leader to help set digital content strategy for our web presence from the ground up.
Primary Responsibilities
Content Strategy + Standards
• Drive creation (development & production) of web/digital content standards for the K12 + eCommerce web presences
• Ensure creative and functional alignment between K-12 marketing sites and corresponding shopping funnel
• Work in lockstep with a UX Designer to create, architect and map content flows based on user segments and journeys (including personalization plans)
• Work in lockstep with Content Marketing group and other writers to source the desired content to fit your strategies for web
• Create engagement, distribution and cross pollination strategies on (and off) site
• Ensure SEO best practices and standards are considered, set and executed
Content Production Standards
• Establish and execute upon digital content workflows
• Oversight of CMS authoring experience: training, asset management, architecture and naming conventions
• Ensure content authors’ adherence to standards and best practices within CMS
• Ensure all content onsite is mobile-responsive and error-free
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS)
• 5+ years of content/digital experience related work experience in eCommerce/web content/Mobile web
Knowledge and Skills
• The ability to effectively synthesize and communicate the implications of user research + UX findings and business requirements as part of the content strategy process
• The ability to conceptualize logical structures and a clear story within user journey flows in order to satisfy business requirements
• The ability to thoughtfully create segmented, personalized and channel-specific content user flows
• Comprehensive experience with a Web CMS/Authoring Environment
• A natural propensity towards an intuitive and consolidated customer experience
• The ability to work cooperatively and constructively with many stakeholders, both inside and outside of the organization to foster long-term partnerships and respect among management and peers
• Strong comprehensive digital work demonstrating past experience related to eCommerce and online content publishing
• Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
• Passion and interest for content development and storytelling against clear goals and objectives
Physical Requirements
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
