RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a passionate, proactive and experienced Design Director to join our Design team in Chicago.

Design plays a critical role in delivering that promise. The team focuses on UX, Visual Design, Design Development, and Design Research. About the Design Director role
This role will raise the profile of Design in our Chicago office and ultimately integrate design thinking into our product strategy and development. The Design Director will be a key influencer in shifting the culture as we undergo a company-wide transformation that brings us back to our legacy as the original FinTech brand. This role will require effective collaboration with executives, product managers, engineers, data analytics, and other important stakeholders. The Design Director will report to the VP of Design.
• Lead and manage the design team in Chicago (UX, Visual Design, Design Research – including hiring open positions)
• Contribute strategically and executionally to deliver meaningful and gorgeous user experiences
• Be actively involved in the projects being developed in the Chicago office (i.e. Trading and Mobile initiatives)
• Advocate for design thinking and be the voice of our customers (understanding their motives and jobs-to-be-done)
• Establish communication channels with the design team in New York to improve collaboration on Design Language, knowledge sharing and co-creation
• Contribute to the overall design process and innovate on defining our experience narratives
• Collaborate with the Customer Journey team to map our end-to-end customer experiences
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skills Needed
• Thorough knowledge of user-centered design principles and approach
• Experience with the Jobs-to-be-done framework
• Experience working in the full lifecycle of Lean/Agile delivery model
• Proficient in Sketch, PhotoShop, Invision, Mural and Keynote
• Experience applying Accessibility best practices (WCAG)
• Good understanding of Web technologies and their impact on UI design
• Experience in A/B testing and informing designs with data
• Experience working with Design Researchers and understanding testing scripts
• Experience defining user experiences for mobile devices
• Experience working with complex design systems
Soft Skills Needed
• Passion for crafting digital products and attention to details
• Not afraid to be hands-on when needed (i.e. update designs, create user flows, setup an Invision prototype)
• Ability to juggle multiple projects without compromising quality
• Ability to thrive in multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience navigating through complex organizations
• Successful track record of relationship building, problem solving and quick execution
• Ability to effectively communicate and present complex conceptual thinking visually and verbally
Qualifications
• 15+ years in UX or Design required
• College or University degree required in related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• Digital portfolio for review
